MINUTES HOUSING AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION Neighborhood Resources Department 235 South Arizona Avenue, Chandler, AZ 85225 Wednesday, May 10, 2023, 6:00 p.m. CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL Commission Chair Tony Alcala called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. Commissioners present: Tony Alcala, Heather Mattisson, Cynthia Hardy, David Gonzalez, Greg Rodriquez, Lisa Loring, Ryan Magel, Cecelia Hermosillo, Julie Martin (phone), Karen Tepper. Commissioners absent: Jeff Reynolds (excused) Staff present: Leah Powell, Director Riann Balch, Community Resources Senior Manager, Karin Bishop, Community Development Senior Program Manager, Dylan Raymond, Temp Management Analyst Senior. None. ACTION AGENDA 1. Development of HHSC Initial recommendation and Contingency Plan for General Fund Allocations for Fiscal year 2023-2024 to City Council Chair Tony Alcala asked Community Resources Senior Manager Riann Balch to provide an overview of the initial recommendations and contingency plan. Ms. Balch thanked Commissioners for their participation in the evaluation process. She recapped that 56 applications had been received totaling $2,710,750.15 in requests. Each application was assigned to one of three evaluation subcommittees for review and development of funding recommendations to the HHSC. Each evaluation subcommittee was composed of both HHSC Commissioners and additional Chandler residents. Subcommittees developed funding recommendations totaling $1,087,051.38 base funding and $1,204,000 potential contingency funding for total recommendations of $2,291,051.38. Today the Commission will review the initial recommendations of each subcommittee, make adjustments as desired, and take action on one combined list of initial recommendations, which will then be made available to applicants and the general public. A public hearing will be conducted to solicit public comment at a special HHSC meeting anticipated to be scheduled for May 31, 2023. Following the public hearing, the HHSC will take action on final recommendations, which will then be considered for approval by City Council the week of June 26, 2023. Applicants are listed below.
