Benjamin Cereceres (Chandler Planner) Specific questions asked by the community have been included in the Microsoft Teams Chatlog included with this application however the questions generally fell into the following categories, with summarized responses below: 1. How was the tower location chosen and proposed? a. Atlas Tower was provided an area lacking in coverage for Verizon Wireless. Atlas reached out all landowners in that area with properties that the Chandler City zoning code would allow for this type of project. We also only considered properties that would have enough space to host the wireless facility. The Sunbird Golf Course was the property located within the coverage hole, has a path for zoning approval, and has the space to host the project while limiting any visual disturbances of the wireless facility. 2. What type of tower design will the tower be? a. This proposal will be designed to resemble a faux pine tree, and be located immediately adjacent to the Sunbird Golf Course maintenance area (6240 S Sunbird Blvd Chandler, AZ 85249), designed to camouflage amongst existing trees. 3. Is this project safe for residential communities? a. Absolutely. This project will adhere to or exceed all FCC standards and regulations for the wireless industry. 4. Will any additional substations be required for this project? a. At this time no additional substations are being requested for this project. [Thursday 7:31 PM] Joyce Lunsford (Guest) was invited to the meeting. [Thursday 7:32 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): We are on the golf course, in last nights meeting it was said that everyone on the golf course received notification, we did not receive notification. Why did we not receive notification? [Thursday 7:33 PM] michael kaddaras (Guest) left the chat. [Thursday 7:33 PM] bartlett (Guest) was invited to the meeting. [Thursday 7:33 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): Can you guarantee that I will not lose value on my property when this cell tower goes in? if I do sell my house and lose value becasue of it, will you pay the difference? [Thursday 7:33 PM] michael kaddaras (Guest) was invited to the meeting. [Thursday 7:34 PM] Maureen Moore: As this is 5 G, will there be sub stations put in throughout the community [Thursday 7:34 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): 5G technology is only as good as the line of site......where will the substations go? and will those need a permit, or not? [Thursday 7:34 PM] Pauline Donnan (Guest) was invited to the meeting. [Thursday 7:35 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): Please show the radius where the 5G tower will improve coverage? We are outside of 2000 ft of proposed tower location. Verizon 5G maps show Sunbird already has coverage. [Thursday 7:36 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): I also have verizon, and I have never dropped a call in Sunbird. I have great coverage everywhere. You read letters from people that had dropped calls while getting to 911 - I have a hard time believing that its all due to connectivity and some of these events might be exaggerated. So putting this cell tower in will do what to connectivity? [Thursday 7:37 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): You also state RF emissions are safe. What if is proven they are not safe? what will happen to this tower? Also, what is the future of the technology on this tower? [Thursday 7:38 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): Please show the trunk [Thursday 7:39 PM] Maureen Moore: Why would no other communities in and around Sunbird nor the reserve want a cell tower in their community? We will be the ONLY community with a cell tower! Is that a red flag for our community? [Thursday 7:39 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): Do you intend on adding to this? [Thursday 7:40 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): The monopine towers over the existing trees. [Thursday 7:42 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): How many towers could fit inside the proposed enclosure? [Thursday 7:42 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): Those photos were taken from so far away, what about the people that are right on the green? you did not take any pictures of that. [Thursday 7:42 PM] Maureen Moore: Will you be maintaining the “compound” walls?? Will you maintain the “tree” to ensure things don’t start looking ratty? [Thursday 7:44 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): You should have taken a picture of the houses right on the green. [Thursday 7:44 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): I have great coverage with Verizon. [Thursday 7:45 PM] Karen DeLong (Guest): Have any additional cell providers (other than Verizon) expressed interest in using this tower? [Thursday 7:45 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): Its not hiding, its going to loom over the existing trees. [Thursday 7:46 PM] Cindy (Guest): I have Verizon and am not able to reach 5G because of service. [Thursday 7:46 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): Why don't the photos show with the antennas installed, the towers will look completely different from what are in the Phoenix area s. [Thursday 7:47 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): we are in the requirement area, we did not receive notification. We are withing 300 feet. How many other people did not receive notificaiton besides us that are in the notification requirment area?? [Thursday 7:47 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): Signs were not posted in very visible areas, who chose the locations for posting? [Thursday 7:48 PM] Cindy (Guest): thank you for the great information. [Thursday 7:49 PM] Jim Stokes (Guest) was invited to the meeting. [Thursday 7:49 PM] DON MAC (Guest) was invited to the meeting. [Thursday 7:50 PM] Richard Robinson (Guest): will lease payments increase if additional carriers are added to the tower [Thursday 7:51 PM] Maureen Moore: If technology advances to the point where Wifi signals are linked through satellite and the tower becomes redundant, will you remove? And/or Will you remove at the end of the lease [Thursday 7:52 PM] don mac (Guest) was invited to the meeting. [Thursday 7:54 PM] The Reeds (Guest): 5G coverage is claimed, but they can't say how good. We had 5G but as usage increases during the day, the coverage does crash. I had a 5G tower and the provider technician I worked with told me to send it back as it is only good during the evening and overnight. Coverage is claimed, but it is not good. [Thursday 7:54 PM] Maureen Moore: Seems this proposal is just the tower, but may Verizon or another carrier possibly add substations in the future? [Thursday 7:56 PM] Maureen Moore: You told us at the February meeting that NO other community in and around Sunbird was WILLING to have a tower built! Is t that a red flag??? [Thursday 7:57 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): For city planners, can this project be placed on hold or delayed until winter months with the community homes are occupied rather than pushing this approval through during summer months? [Thursday 7:59 PM] Maureen Moore: Does increasing the number of carriers on the tower increase the electromagnetic radio wave output? Does this increase any risk to human exposure? [Thursday 8:00 PM] bartlett (Guest) left the chat. [Thursday 8:00 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): If you get more carriers, does the golf course get more money? [Thursday 8:01 PM] Maureen Moore: Does Atlas make more money the more carriers there are on the tower?? Will the golf course make more money accordingly? [Thursday 8:03 PM] Judy (Guest) left the chat. [Thursday 8:03 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): What are next steps for approval or disapproval of this project? [Thursday 8:04 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): Is this a zoning change for the entire golf course property? [Thursday 8:04 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): 1) How many decibles in volume will this tower emit. I have heard of towers going into emergency mode, and the sound it emits is horrible. 2) who is responsible to field this? [Thursday 8:07 PM] Maureen Moore: When were the FCC guidelines last updated? [Thursday 8:09 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): Since we are the first residential community that the city will possibly allow this kind of project right in the middle of a residential community, will this set a precedence of the city to allow for future projects such as this to be within other residential communities? I [Thursday 8:11 PM] Ken Sieth (Guest) was invited to the meeting. [Thursday 8:11 PM] Ken Sieth (Guest) left the chat. [Thursday 8:13 PM] Ken Sieth (Guest) was invited to the meeting. [Thursday 8:13 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): So I am hearing, yes, the city will allow this in a residential community. Why are we going through these motions then, if there is nothing we as a community can do to stop this? [Thursday 8:14 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): Ben as you stated this is an unusual request in that a business entity separate from the HOA is requesting a tower and not the residential community. Please here concerns of residents vs Golf Course business entity request for income. [Thursday 8:14 PM] Maureen Moore: If the golf course is zoned as a golf course, how can it be used for another purpose such as this? [Thursday 8:14 PM] Richard Robinson (Guest): has the lease with the golf course been finalized [Thursday 8:15 PM] Cindy (Guest): Thanks again for all the valuable information. [Thursday 8:15 PM] James Morgan: How do I show that I support the construction of this tower. [Thursday 8:15 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): Trees die what is the requirement for golf course to plant new trees? [Thursday 8:16 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): Thank you to Ben and you for taking time this evening. [Thursday 8:16 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): I AM OPPOSITION OF THIS PROJECT! The golf course is selling us out. [Thursday 8:17 PM] Maureen Moore: Will Atlas and their subs be given a gate code? [Thursday 8:18 PM] mstohr2000@comcast.net (Guest): to Ben and Cornelius, thank you for your time and information provided to everyone. [Thursday 8:18 PM] Diane and Dennis Foote (Guest): Are only the opinions of the people living within the 600 feet being considered for approval? [Thursday 8:22 PM] Karen DeLong (Guest): Thank you so much for your time and the info provided! [Thursday 8:27 PM] michael kaddaras (Guest) left the chat. [Thursday 8:28 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): when is the council having their meeting to review this and make a decision? is it going to be open for comments? [Thursday 8:29 PM] Cornelius Whitehead: Cwhitehead@atlastowers.com [Thursday 8:31 PM] AA (Guest) left the chat. [Thursday 8:33 PM] Cindy (Guest) left the chat. [Thursday 8:35 PM] Maureen Moore: Why is one of your criteria proximity to homes if there is no danger? [Thursday 8:36 PM] Dale & Helen Mortimer (Guest): I want to thank you both for answering all of the question posted here. I appreciate that. This is an important issue and is going to affect many Sunbird residents in a negative manner, as well as City of Chandler residents. [Thursday 8:37 PM] Michael (Guest) left the chat.
