Unfortunately we won't be able to attend the meeting on the 26th or 27th
But I did want to give you some input.
My wife and I have been homeowners in SunBird for the past 20 years. We totally support the new cell tower,
being proposed, on the golf course property in SunBird.
First of all, it will greatly improve our cell phone service, which is currently marginal.
Secondly the revenue will benefit the golf course. I see it as nothing but a big win win for the community.
Our vote would be a BIG Yes. The majority of my friends are also in favor.
Please don’t let a handful of new residents, who have a track record of being troublemakers, convince you
otherwise, they are not speaking for the majority.

Benjamin,
I am a supporter of the Cell Tower installation within the SunBird community.
I was the SunBird HOA Board  President last year (no longer on the Board as my term was up) and so proud of
our  community for all it has to offer, and I believe the addition of this cell tower will both enhance cell coverage as well
as providing a financial opportunity to the golf course. The golf course is a part of the overall community but now the
community itself.  They are a stand alone company, doing everything possible to sustain themselves including the cell
tower potential incorporation.
It is sad, that we have a few Homeowners that will do anything against the golf course and this issue is again no
difference.   It was frustrating for me in the role that I had, that individuals moved into a community named "SunBird
Golf Resort", only to throw every stone possible at the golf course solely because they enjoy going against the
grain.   This same negative group gets other individuals all riled up with mis-information when the facts indicate there is
no safety concerns with the installation of the tower.
Thanks for your time and energy in providing simply the facts and data to our community.  This tower will benefit the
golf course as well as the community.

As a longtime SunBird resident, I would like to voice my approval of the tower construction here at SunBird.  I am an
elderly woman, and I rely heavily on my cell phone for communications to my daughter, who lives in Riggs Ranch
Meadows.  I have several medical ailments, and it is so important that I be able to reach her on a timely basis in the
event of an emergency.
Over the past few years, I have experienced many dropped phone calls with her and also to my son in California.  This
cell tower is desperately needed here to improve our communications with family and emergency personnel services.
I have heard there are a few individuals who live in this community who will oppose anything that is in relation to the
golf course, but this is short-sighted in my opinion.  I urge you to expedite the approval of this proposal so that SunBIrd
residents can have modern, up-to-date communications technology .

My concern is that a few objectors may disproporƟonately influence, delay or impede issuance of final approvals and 
decisions required to proceed with this project. The market value compensaƟon available to our Golf Club for this
installaƟon is essenƟal to the long-term conƟnuaƟon of our much used and treasured golf course.

We are asking for your positive consideration and approval for the installation of cell phone tower that is presently being
proposed for Sunbird Golf Resort. We have lived in Sunbird 9 + years.  Our service provider was Verizon for those years.
Our families live all out of state. We are full time residents. Many many times our connection is lost or we cant dial out.
In 2022 we had to call 911 due to suspected heart issues. I had to dial 3 times to have call go through. The addition of a
cell phone tower is a tremendous safety advantage to our community; especially having had that personal experience
I know there is some opposition from a few of our residents, which knowing some of these individuals are against
anything that would benefit their neighbors or the golf course. Their opposition makes NO sense especially regarding the
safety of the towers. They are not educated in this area and use information that is/was negative without looking at the
whole picture.

My wife and I are residents of Sunbird Golf Resort and have been since 2008; our cell service has been marginal at best
and feel that the new proposed tower will be a great benefit for everyone in our community as well as other residents in
surrounding areas.
I live quite close to where the tower is proposed to be located and I see no reason for concern; the health risks are non-
existent  , the visual look of a tree-like tower poses no negative and the benefits far outweigh any risks.
It will also provide a financial boost for the Sunbird Golf Club which, in turn, would help keep our community looking
beautiful and keep our home values strong.

I am writing in support of the proposed communications tower in the Sunbird Golf Resort community.  I am a retired
County Planning & Zoning Director with over 43-years experience working with communities in central Wisconsin, and
was a long time member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.  I’ve written several long-range land use
master plans and zoning ordinances, in cooperation with several local planning committees/commissions.  These tasks
included working with communities and telecommunication providers regarding location, setbacks, and development
standards for towers.
As you know, a community’s infrastructure includes several components, including transportation systems, sanitary
and storm sewers, water distribution, electrical power, schools and parks, communication systems, etc. As you are also
keenly aware, a community’s infrastructure must be maintained, updated, and expanded as the community grows and
demands change over time.  Sewer and water facilities need to be expanded to accommodate new business, industry,
and residential developments.  Schools need to be added (or sometimes consolidated or closed) as the demographics
change.  Roads need to be added or widened (i.e. Chandler Heights right now) as traffic demands dictate.  Air, rail and
highway transportation systems are absolute necessities for a community like ours. And, what happens when record
high temperatures stress the existing electric power grid?
The same holds true for the telecommunications network.  With the exponential growth of technology in recent times,
almost every home and business relies on strong, uninterrupted cell phone and internet service.  New towers are an
integral component of the communications infrastructure, as integral as added lanes are to roads, as integral as sewer
and water is to Chandler’s industrial and business development, as integral as schools and parks are to our new
neighborhoods.

As planners, my staff and I viewed communities, not from “ground level,” but “from 30,000 feet.”  We would ask,
“what is best for the community at large going forward?   How can that best be accomplished with the least negative
impact, and most positive impact, on the neighborhood?”  I know the Chandler City Planning staff does the same.  So,
what is needed to sustain our city’s telecommunication infrastructure?  In part, new towers are essential to
accommodate and provide for expanding technology and the demand for it.  Yes, there are a few naysayers, some
NIMBY’s, but, in the short- and long-run, will the community benefit from the proposed project?  Have the negative
concerns been addressed?  Do positive impacts outweigh the negatives?   In the case of the proposed tower in Sunbird
Golf Resort, it has been well planned with ample opportunity for public input, including past and proposed
neighborhood meetings, notifications, mailings, and informative websites.  It is my professional opinion that the
negative concerns have, indeed, been addressed completely by the City, the developer, and the SunBird Golf Board,
that the positives clearly outweigh any negatives, and the tower proposal should be approved.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend or view next week’s meetings.  In my absence, I strongly urge you to
consider my comments and give your support and approval to the proposed communications tower in Sunbird Golf
Resort.

As a longtime Sunbird resident, I would like to voice my approval of the tower construction here at
Sunbird. I am an elderly gentleman, and I rely heavily on my cell phone for communications to my
daughter, who lives in Riggs Ranch Meadows. I have several medical ailments, and it is so important
to be able to contact her in the event of an emergency.
Over the past few years, I have experienced many dropped phone calls with her and also to my son
in California.    This cell tower is desperately needed here to improve our communications with family
and emergency personnel  services.
I have heard there are a few individuals who live in this community who will oppose anything that is in
relation to the golf course, but this short-sighted, in my opinion.
I urge you to expedite the approval of this proposal so that Sunbird residents can have modern, up-to-
date communications technology.

I am a supporter of the Cell Tower installation within the SunBird community.
I was the SunBird HOA Board  President last year (no longer on the Board as my term was up) and so proud of
our  community for all it has to offer, and I believe the addition of this cell tower will both enhance cell coverage as well
as providing a financial opportunity to the golf course. The golf course is a part of the overall community but now the
community itself.  They are a stand alone company, doing everything possible to sustain themselves including the cell
tower potential incorporation.
It is sad, that we have a few Homeowners that will do anything against the golf course and this issue is again no
difference.   It was frustrating for me in the role that I had, that individuals moved into a community named "SunBird
Golf Resort", only to throw every stone possible at the golf course solely because they enjoy going against the
grain.   This same negative group gets other individuals all riled up with mis-information when the facts indicate there is
no safety concerns with the installation of the tower.

golf course as well as the community.

This is in regard to a proposed cell tower on the property of Sunbird Golf Course.  I am in full support of the cell tower.
Due to the increased number of cellphones and growth in the area, the number of times I have dropped calls has

people who are fighting this cell tower are creating an unsafe situation and I feel their arguments against this tower are

  Dear Sirs,
I just wanted to send you an email to officially cast my support for the Sunbird Golf Resort Cell tower project.  This
project is proposed with all the necessary requirements addressed and will only improve the cell service in the Sunbird
area.  In an aging community it is vital to have the cell service in the event of emergencies.
A year ago, I had an issue and almost passed out.  I tried to call 911 several times, but the calls would not go
through.  Luckily a friend happened to call me be for I totally passed out (thank God)  and I was able to have her call 911
for me.    The fire truck and ambulance were there almost immediately after receiving her call, and I was taken to the
emergency room.
I have been a Sunbird resident for over 15 years.
Access to emergency dispatch service through sound cell service is only a positive.

Dear Mayor and Council Members of Chandler,
My name is Jeff Corkery and my wife and I own a home located within the Sunbird Golf Resort.  I have attended two
meetings on the proposed erection of a cell tower within the resort.  I want you to know my wife and I are in complete
support of this tower.  It brings better service to our area and also funds for our golf course.  The objections I have heard
about this tower are not based on any credible evidence.  I am a retired school superintendent and have also faced
resistance to many initiatives again based on nothing more than lack of knowledge or predetermined notions.
This tower will be built and having in located in Sunbird at the determined location only helps Sunbird and its residents.
I ask that you support this project.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.  Best to you as you

The purpose of this email is to give you my opinion on this very important subject.  I am 100% in favor of the cell tower
being added to Sunbird.  Customers who have Verizon have reported dropped calls and this is a safety issue.  Also, other
communities such as Sun Lakes have had a cell tower on their property without any issues.  We have a few rouge
members of our community that are only interested in their own well being instead of what's better for Sunbird.  Our
golf course is owned by residents of Sunbird, not a big management group.  These folks want the golf course to
fail.  They don't understand the importance of a golf course.  The cell tower will bring in revenue that will help the
course  succeed.  Please vote in favor of the cell tower for our community.  It is very important for both the people and
the golf course of Sunbird.

Dear Ben
As a homeowner in Sunbird Golf Resort, I wanted to share my strong support for this new proposed cell tower.   We
have spotty cell service, and dropped calls are a regular occurrence. We also have EMT responses into Sunbird normally
multiple times per day as we are a very ageing community;   and I am aware that those 911 calls have been dropped
sometimes due to this spotty service;  this is a serious issue that the proposed cell tower can eliminate for us as nothing
is scarier than not being able to request emergency services immediately.
I have reviewed the safety information on cell towers and am very comfortable with the expert opinions that it is
safe;  which is contrary to what a few people suggest.   I have also seen the home value study that included Phoenix that
showed no impact of cell towers on home values.   And I am very pleased that this tower will be a camouflage tree
tower; that will  not be obvious to the casual observer.  There is one tree tower  close to a large church on Gilbert Road
near us that supports this.
Sunbird has a small group of very vocal opponents.   However, I strongly see a large proportion of people in Sunbird very
much in favor of this improvement to our community;  and most of us do not want to engage or confront these vocal
few.
I appreciate your work for Chandler to keep it a vibrant and wonderful place to live, where we can feel safe &
secure.   Please approve this tower for the Sunbird community and know that it has the added benefit of significantly
improving our emergency service response times by eliminating most of the dropped & non calls.

Sunbird, I recently retired after 25 years in the cell phone tower industry.  I worked as a project administrator for tower
construction as well as installation of antennas and lines on cell towers.  It's my understanding that there is concern that
exposure to the cell tower could create health issues.  In my 25 years in the tower industry, I never heard of a cell tower
causing health issues to the people living in close proximity to the tower.  It is my hope that the city of Chandler will
approve this project and let construction begin.

I am a resident of Sunbird Golf Resort in Chandler, as well as a voter here in Maricopa County.  I am FULLY IN
FAVOR of the proposed cell tower being installed on the golf course property in Sunbird.
The company installing the tower, with Verizon as the first cellular company, has presented a very thorough
and convincing presentation to our neighborhood. They have laid out their plans to meet all government
regulations, as well as making it aesthetically pleasing by disguising it as a tree. It will significantly improve the
current spotty cell service in our area.
We have heard there are some people opposed to the installation, which is their right.  However, I believe
they have been misinformed about either the looks of the tower or some imaginary danger of radiation from
cell towers in general.  There is more radiation from the cell phone we hold to our ears than from any cell
tower!
Thank you for your consideration and please help us expedite this process to install a new cell tower and
improve cell service for many Chandler residents.

I am a resident at Sunbird Golf Resort and would love to have the cell tower installed at Sunbird. It would bring better
service in our area which at this time is poor.

I feel the installation of a cell tower in SunBird is quite safe.
On the American Cancer Society website they state, "The amount of exposure from living near a cell phone
tower typically is many times lower than the exposure from using a cell phone." They say the current research
indicates, "cell tower RF waves lack the ability to directly damage DNA."
They also quote the USFCC, "There is no reason to believe that such towers could contribute a potential health
hazard to nearby residents or students."

is much needed for the south side of Sunbird.
One area of concern for us is that some of the questions asked show a lack of complete understanding of the
issue. For instance, a request for coverage maps of the various carriers for the area. The issue is not 'yes or
no' do cell phone providers have coverage in our community. The issue is the quality of that coverage. We
know this issue well and it is why we are so concerned that this is not generally understood.
When we moved to Sunbird eight years ago we had been with Verizon for more than twenty years. Service
had always been good and we used a 4G mobile hotspot. We didn't even have hard wired internet to the
house. This worked for the first few years but over time the data slowed down and phone service was
sketchy. When 5G became available T-Mobile was first to offer it in our area and we switched, as they had
coverage for us. Again that worked for a little while but kept getting slower. At the end, if I wanted to do
anything on the internet I had to complete it before 7AM. Once more people got online the system would
crash.
We finally had to go to a cable driven internet package from Orbitel. That works well in the house. Our
phones still would not work inside the house until we switched to 'wi-fi calling.' That is how we are getting by.
Many people use wi-fi calling, where the call is piggy-backed on the internet. I am sure some do not even
know that is what is happening. For us trying to live without the wire to our house has made us keenly aware
of the issue.
In conclusion, I just ask that when people want to know about current coverage that they need to understand
the issue is the quality of that coverage. Also, I doubt that the providers would be too willing to show exactly
how bad their coverage is. The cell phone operators are trying to take some internet data business with their
new 5G in home towers, but they don't work without good cell coverage.

Hi Benjamin- we moved to Sunbird in 2020 from Wisconsin.  We have loved living in Sunbird and Chandler.  We have
noticed that there has been issues with cell service.  For a few weeks I couldn’t get access to some financial websites
that needed two factor authentication.  It was discovered that I needed to be on Wi-Fi calling in order to get access.
(While this isn’t an emergency it was lack of service). We have been fortunate not to need 911, but if I didn’t have Wi-Fi
or was walking in the community, it would be difficult to be sure I have reliable service.
Since we have moved in here, we have definitely noticed a small group of individuals that have nothing good to say
about the golf course and/or the HOA and continue to go against anything.  What I would like to say is if this individuals
have an issue with the cell tower as they are afraid of microwaves etc they don’t seem to care that others have stuff in
their “back” yards.  We have 4 electrical boxes within 15 feet or less of our house and our master bedroom… so maybe
we could get rid of them as I am sure they are not good for our health either.  Most of the individuals complaining about
this don’t live close enough to affect them and certainly not as close as we are to these boxes.
So the reason I am appealing to you, is to realize that there are haters out there and there are always people that say
not in my backyard, but they all enjoy the cell service, and electrical service….. etc and we need to be sure that we are
providing what is needed for a community vs to always be against something that a few people what to complain
about.

Dear Benjamin and City Council,
Two years ago we decided to move from Washington State to be closer to family.  Arizona was our
choice and after much consideration we decided that Chandler looked like a great place to
relocate.  Friends and family showed us many options but being an avid golfer I felt SunBird Golf
Resort would be perfect.  Not having a land line phone we depend exclusively on our cell
phones.  We have T-Mobile but started losing some calls.  Talking to neighbors we found out that
SunBird doesn't have the best reception, especially for those with Verizon. When we found out about
the cell tower we were excited for us but mostly for those that have Verizon service. Having good cell
service, especially in a retirement community, could save lives.
I am very much in favor of the cell proposal and would appreciate your support on this project.

The proposed cell tower should be implemented as planned. The location site by the maintenance yard off the 1st green
is an excellent spot for lack of visual interference in the community.
 The golf course shoukd have the benefit of this tower, as we are not supported or funded by our HOA. Furthermore, the
studies that have been done on cell towers within a community, have been shown to have no negative health or safety
issues.

The increased population, new casino and future requirements dictate that we keep up with cell coverage demands. I

Hi Benjamin and council -  Two weeks ago while on a walk in the area by the villas, I noticed a door ripped off its
hinges.  With the three known recent break ins here in Sunbird, and it was 7:30 in the morning, I called our guard hut on
a Riggs road, since I knew they opened at 6 am.  The guard continued to say “you are breaking up, I can’t hear you”.  I
told him there was nothing I could do about it, as I am not at my house where I usually am on Wi-Fi calling.  Well I
moved down the street slightly  and I think he finally heard me, but I am not certain.  The good news was that wasn’t a
break in after following up with a different patrol person driving in here.  This is clearly another issue with our service in
Sunbird.
In addition, I have taken three different pictures of other cell phone towers in Chandler.  All are either near a school or
homes or both.  So I guess I don’t understand how residents that don’t live by the towers can have an effect saying they
don’t want or need?
1. This one is at and maybe even on Hamilton High School property, where kids reside for hours- and as an aside they
are not very attractive, which isn’t the point I know and there are houses to the left of the the school property but not in
my picture

2. This picture is on Seton Catholic High school with a daycare and hospice place located very close, again in both they
are there for hours or live there.  In addition, there are houses very close as my daughters house is very near that. Again
not attractive, again not the point.

So at the end of the day, there are always people that will continue to fight anything, but all have cell phones so remain
very hypocritical and it may some day be an issue for them to not have the service necessary when it is an
emergency.  We have at least 4 very elderly neighbors in three different houses that don’t have cell phones, so when
their houses change ownership, there will be continued new needs for critical cell phone services.  In addition, with
many of the carriers offering internet Verizon and T-Mobile, I wonder if that will have any effect on cell services in the
future.  I wonder how the use of service is affected when all of the snowbirds are also back in Sunbird and everyone is
using the cell services?
We hope that you can support the need for additional service before it becomes a life threatening need.
