AMENDMENT NO. 1 
TO THE 
AGREEMENT 
BETWEEN MARICOPA COUNTY 
ADMINISTERED BY ITS 
HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT 
AND 
CITY OF TEMPE 
 
I. 
Maricopa County (“County”) administered by its Human Services Department and the City 
of Tempe (“City” or “Subrecipient”) fully executed a financial Intergovernmental Agreement 
(“Agreement”) on or about May 24, 2023. The County provided the City with $50,000 in 
American Rescue Plan Act Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery (ARPA) Funds 
to expand daytime heat relief services in the Tempe area. The Funds allow for the 
provision of temporary emergency shelter services, outreach, and case management for 
people experiencing homelessness. The term of the Agreement is May 24, 2023, through 
December 31, 2023. The County and the Subrecipient are referred to as the “Parties.” 
 
II. 
The Parties agree to enter this Amendment No. 1 to amend the Agreement as follows: 
 
A. 
The County shall provide the Subrecipient with an increase in ARPA funding in the 
amount of $9,600. Funds shall be utilized to expand the scope of the project from 
August 7, 2023, through September 9, 2023. During this time, the Subrecipient 
shall increase the number of clients served at the heat relief center each day. The 
increase in funding allows for an additional 200 individuals to receive services. 
 
III. 
Section II. above contains all the changes to the Agreement made by this Amendment No. 
1. All other terms and conditions of the Agreement shall remain unchanged and in full 
force and effect as executed by the Parties. 
 
IV. 
The Parties have authorized the undersigned to execute this Amendment No. 1, and it 
shall be effective upon approval and signature by both Parties.
