Approval of Minutes for Domestic Violence Commission Subcommittee – August 2023 Motion to approve Domestic Violence Commission Subcommittee Minutes of August 9, 2023 Motion: Commissioner Codkind Seconded: Commissioner Fessel UNANIMOUS APPROVAL 3. Approval to post domestic violence topics on social media Motion to approve to post domestic violence topics on social media without needing approval of the Commission Motion: Commissioner Fessel Seconded: Commissioner Lim UNANIMOUS APPROVAL Discussion 4. Domestic Violence Event 2023 – September 26 from 10 am – 12 pm at AVION Center AVION Center open at 7:30 AM for DV Commission arrival. 17 tables of eight for 130 seats with black tablecloths. We will need to place centerpieces and placemats. Breakdown must be completed by 12:30 PM. We need to have everything out, but do not need to break tables down. Food – scones, nuts, yogurt, granola, fruit, and water will be provided. Décor was discussed. Wear the purple Commission shirts and black bottoms. We have statistics and just need a few Commissioners’ pictures for the slide show. Need Resource tables for ten agencies and 1-2 chairs for each table with Commissioner Fessel to coordinate. MC – Chair Grieve Invocation/Land Acknowledgement – someone from Gila River, Commissioner Hinchey will check into who will be speaking Resource Speaker – SWIWC – Memory Dawn Longchase Introduce DV Commission – Commissioner Curtis Mayor’s Speech Survivor Speaker 1– Thalia Roessel Introduce SWIWC Survivor Speaker 2 – Caroline Antone Lt. Governor Antone – Keynote speaker Legislative Update – ACESDV, Commissioner Hinchey will find someone from ACESDV Page 3 of 3 5. Domestic Violence Community Outreach Subcommittee – Commissioner Teresa Lynn has resigned. Commissioner Flippen may be with a new agency so we may have an agency opening if her Arizona’s Children Association decides to resign as an agency on the DV Commission. Member Comments/Announcements On September 18, 2023, at 6:00 PM the DV Awareness proclamation will be read at the Chandler City Council. Chair Grieve will accept and thank Mayor and Council for their on-going support and announce an invitation to the Annual Domestic Violence Event. Peace Pole dedication at Mesa Community College. Chandler Candlelight Vigil – waiting on Councilmember Ellis/City of Chandler still needs to finalize. Commissioner Curtis has agreed to speak on behalf of the Domestic Violence Commission.
