1. December Cultural Foundation Board Meeting Minutes

Julia Marreel made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from the December 7,
2023, Cultural Foundation Board Meeting, with one change.
Peppur Chambers seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously, 11-0. The
minutes were approved as written.
Action Agenda
2. Approve Emeritus Board Members
Susan Baker made a motion to approve Emeritus Board Members.
Jeanne Forbis seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously, 11-0.
Emeritus Board Members approved are Linda Yarbrough and Steena Murray.
3. Approve Board Development Charter Revision
LaTricia Woods made a motion to approve the Board Development Charter revision.
Mike Halle seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously, 11-0.
Revision was to add that the Chair may serve on the subcommittee for three years.
Subcommittee membership remains at two-year terms, except for the revised Chair’s
term.
4. Approve Subcommittee Assignments
Sherida McMullan made a motion to approve subcommittee assignments.
LaTricia Woods seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously, 11-0.
New subcommittee assignments were distributed. This is pending two new
appointments and four reappointments.
The new appointments are to replace Linda Yarbrough and Steena Murray, and they
will serve on the Special Events Subcommittee.
The Special Events Subcommittee Chair will be Mari Jo Woolf-Whitaker.
LaTricia Woods will remain the Board Development Subcommittee Chair.
5. Approve Statement of Leadership Organization for NEA Grant
Peppur Chambers made a motion to approve Statement of Leadership Organization
for the NEA Grant.
Chris McMullan seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously, 11-0.
There is an opportunity to apply for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
Grant. The letter of support included with the completed application is signed on
behalf of the Chandler Cultural Foundation and the Chandler Center for the Arts staff.
6. Approve Event Budgets
LaTricia Woods made a motion to approve the Event Budgets for Devo, The Life and
Music of George Michael (revised), Hotel California: A Salute to the Eagles, William
Shatner Live on Stage: Wrath of Khan Screening, Get the Led Out (revised), NYE
Celebration – Hooray for Hollywood! with musical director JR McAlexander, Stomp

(revised), 25th Annual International Guitar Night, Piano Battle, Kirk Whalum – Songs
of Change, The Magic of Jen Kramer, Choir!Choir!Choir!, and Tommy Gearhart: The
Good Life – A Celebration of Tony Bennett.
Chris McMullan seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously, 11-0.
Briefing
7. Executive Subcommittee Update
The Executive Subcommittee met on January 9, 2024.
Items discussed included the Board Development Charter update, subcommittee
changes, and decision packages submitted through the annual City budget process.
8. Needs Assessment for Expanded Facilities Update
The Request for Proposal has been released.
Proposals are due by February 15, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. local Arizona time.
A Pre-Proposal Conference has been scheduled for February 1, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.
local Arizona time via Webex.
Committee meeting will occur in March.
The goal is to have this on the Council Agenda for the April 4th Council Meeting.
9. December Financial Report
Julia Marreel reviewed the December Financial Report.
10. Visual Arts Update
Peter Bugg shared a Visual Arts Update to the board.
The update included current and upcoming exhibitions at the Vision Gallery and the
Gallery at the Center for the Arts (CCA).
Also included was an update on the Public Arts, which included the Fire Department
Memorial, additional decorated traffic boxes in 9 areas, Mural at Apache Park,
collaboration with the Chandler Museum, Artwork for the CCA Lobby, and more.
Bugg also provided a Programming update.
Back by popular demand is another “Off the Clock” in which City of Chandler
employees submit artwork for that exhibition, and a Call to Artist with “Sweet
Tooth” as the topic.
11. Profit and Loss Reports
Terri Rettig reviewed the Profit & Loss statements for When You Wish Upon a Star,
Hasta La Muerte (Las Cafeteras), Sammy Miller & The Congregation: The Music of
1973 at 50, Boney James (revised), Bruce in the USA (revised), Howie Mandel, The
United States Army Band Jazz Ambassadors, Joss James – On and On: The Music of
Erykah Badu, and Daniela Padron (with Antulio Mora) (revised).
A Profit & Loss Summary for the 2023-2024 Season year-to-date was also reviewed.

Friends Announcements
GarWen Jackson announced there were 15 events since the last board meeting, which equated to
934.5 volunteer hours. There are 140 active volunteers.
Member Comments/Announcements
The State of the City will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the Chandler Center for the
Arts. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the Mayoral Address at 6:30 p.m. Board members who are
attending should wear their name tags.
Peppur Chambers will be the narrator in the Beauty and the Beast concert show in May.
Any board member who would like a discount code to share with their networking contacts should
contact Cynde Cerf.

the Chandler Museum, Saguaro Room, 300 S. Chandler Village Drive.
