Call to Order 
The meeting was called to order by Barbara Meyerson at 1:00 p.m.

Consent Agenda  
1. November 2023 Museum Foundation Executive Subcommittee Meeting Minutes 
 Joan Clark made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from November 6, 2023.  
 Tom Escobedo seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). The minutes 
were approved as written.

Action Item 
2. Approve Recommendation of Board Appointments  
 Tom Escobedo made a motion to approve the recommendation of Board 
Appointments as listed.  
 Joan Clark seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). The 
recommendation for the Board Appointments was approved as follows: 
o Reappoint Blake Adam Turner 
o Reappoint Joshua Askey 
o Reappoint Martin Sepulveda 
o Reappoint Richard Feely 
 The Board Chair will call each of the reappointments to review the process and 
inquire if they want to serve another term, which is three years.  
 If any of the reappointments do not want to serve another term, there are options: 
o Board members can reach out to people they know and ask them to submit 
a board application if they are interested in serving.   
o The City of Chandler maintains a list of board applications which have been 
submitted.  The list for those applicants interested in serving on the Museum 
Foundation Board can be forwarded to the board for vetting.  
 
3. Recommend Rescinding Museum Foundation Action Item from April 2022 Board Meeting 
that Delayed the Creation of the Endowment Investment Account 
 Joan Clark made a motion to recommend rescinding Museum Foundation Action 
Item from April 2022 Board Meeting that Delayed the Creation of the Endowment 
Invest Account.  
 Tom Escobedo seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0).  
 The April 2022 Action Item stated that the Endowment Investment Account would 
not be opened until the Board received a letter from the Chandler Historical Society 
(CHS) Treasurer or a copy of the approved CHS meeting minutes regarding the 
transfer of funds to the Chandler Museum Foundation.  
 The documentation was never received and, therefore, the funds were deposited 
into the checking account and are still in that account.  
  
4. Recommend Creating the Chandler Museum Foundation Endowment Investment Account 
and Moving $250,000 into the Account as the Starting Balance 
 Tom Escobedo made a motion to recommend creating the Chandler Museum 
Foundation Endowment Investment Account and moving $250,000 into the account 
as the starting balance. 
 Joan Clark seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0).  
 The Foundation’s Investment Policy follows the City’s Investment Policy.

5. Recommend Approval of the Museum Foundation Governance Goal 
 Joan Clark made a motion to recommend approval of the Museum Governance Goal. 
 Tom Escobedo seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). 
 
6. Recommend Approval of the Museum Foundation Awareness & Engagement Goal 
 Joan Clark made a motion to recommend approval of the Awareness & Engagement 
Goal.  
 Tom Escobedo seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0).  
 City staff will send the Executive Subcommittee members a list of who is serving on 
each of the subcommittees and workgroups.  
 
Briefing 
7. Discuss Next Topic for Museum Moment 
 The next topic for the Museum Moment will be the Tumbleweed Ranch Masterplan 
Update.  
 For a future topic, Sarah Biggerstaff, Museum Storytelling Coordinator, will attend a 
board meeting for introductions.  
 
8. Review Agenda for the Next Museum Foundation Board Meeting 
 The agenda for the Museum Foundation Board Meeting to be held on Tuesday, 
January 16, 2024, was discussed and set.

9. The next Museum Foundation Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 
5:30 p.m., at the Chandler Museum, Saguaro Room, 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, in

10. The next Executive Subcommittee Meeting will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 
1:00 p.m., at the Chandler Museum, Saguaro Room, 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, in 
Chandler, Arizona.
