RESOLUTION NO. 5781 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ENTER INTO A SUBRECIPIENT 
GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE TRUST FOR PUBLIC LAND FOR U.S. 
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOREST SERVICE FUNDING IN AN 
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $767,000; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY 
MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT AND 
TAKE OTHER ACTION NECESSARY OR APPROPRIATE TO IMPLEMENT 
THE GRANT. 
 
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service (“USFS”) has awarded Inflation 
Reduction Act of 2022 grant funds to the City of Chandler (“City”) in an amount of up to Seven 
Hundred Sixty-Seven Thousand Dollars ($767,000), to be administered and managed by the pass-
through entity The Trust for Public Land (“TPL”) pursuant to a subrecipient grant agreement 
(“Agreement”); and 
 
WHEREAS, the grant funds are awarded as a reimbursable grant with a 100% match waiver for 
projects taking place within disadvantaged communities as identified by the Climate and 
Economic Justice Screening Tool; and 
 
WHEREAS, the grant funds will fund irrigation improvements, tree planting and public education 
about trees in disadvantaged Chandler communities; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City is partnering with Chandler Unified School District to perform the grant 
obligations. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona: 
 
Section 1.    Approves the Agreement between the City of Chandler and TPL, in substantially 
the form attached hereto as Exhibit “A” and incorporated herein by reference. 
 
Section 2.   Authorizes the Mayor of the City of Chandler, the City Manager, or designee(s) to 
accept the funds and execute the Agreement on behalf of the City of Chandler and 
to execute all documents and take all actions necessary or appropriate to carry out 
the terms of the Agreement.
