Resolution No. 5785 GOHS Grant Application

RESOLUTION NO. 5785 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING A GRANT APPLICATION, AGREEMENT, AND 
FUNDS ACCEPTANCE OF UP TO $64,252 UNDER THE ARIZONA 
GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY’S 2025 HIGHWAY SAFETY 
PLAN, TO SUPPORT CHANDLER FIRE DEPARTMENT’S CHILD SAFETY 
SEAT CLINICS. 
 
WHEREAS, the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) is seeking grant 
applications from state and local agencies for federal funding of projects relating to all aspects of 
highway safety to be included in Arizona’s 2025 Highway Safety Plan; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler, through the Chandler Fire Department (CFD), has prepared a 
grant application to GOHS, seeking up to $64,252 in federal grant funding from the National 
Highway Traffic Safety Administration, to support CFD’s Child Safety Seat Clinics; and 
 
WHEREAS, CFD has determined that it can comply with the GOHS grant requirements and use 
the grant funds, if awarded, in the manner described under the terms of the grant. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Authorizing the submittal of a grant application to GOHS for consideration in 
Arizona’s 2025 Highway Safety Plan in the amount of $64,252. 
 
Section 2. 
Authorizing the Fire Chief of the Chandler Fire Department, or his designee, to 
execute the grant agreement and any other necessary or desirable instruments in 
connection with such grant and take such actions necessary to comply with the 
terms of the grant and perform all acts necessary to give effect to this Resolution. 
 
Section 3. 
Authorizing the acceptance of GOHS grant funds in an amount of up to $64,252 
should a grant be awarded to support the CFD’s Child Safety Seat Clinics.
