Unscheduled Public Appearances None. Action Agenda 1. January 9, 2024 Minutes. Approval of the January 9, 2024 Mayor’s Youth Commission minutes. Action Agenda Motion and Vote Commissioner Ananditha Sivakumaran moved to approve the January 9, 2024 Mayor’s Youth Commission meeting minutes. Seconded by Commissioner Josh Victoria. Motion carried unanimously. (16-3-0) Briefing 2. Natasha Davis - CUSD Director of Counseling and Social Services Ms. Davis talks to MYC Commissioners about the work that she does with CUSD. CUSD has 51 schools in total and each school has a school counselor or/and a social worker there to help the student’s well being and mental health. CUSD has programs such as Hope Institute located at Perry High School, where they help students to treat thoughts of suicide. They opened on September 1st. The Hope Institute also focuses on helping students with drug prevention. If a student is caught vaping, they have a diversion program where they try to decrease the punishment, such as suspension, by asking the student to go to therapy. The plan for next year is having teen mental health first aid implemented in all CUSD schools. There is also a Student Mental Health Advisory Council, who meets quarterly to focus on connecting students with the resources that they need. 3. City of Chandler 3-1-1 Implementation and Youth Feedback MYC Commissioners will share their thoughts, opinions, and feedback about the communication that happens in the city through interviews. 4. Teen Leadership Academy Planning MYC Commissioners finalize the activities in preparation for TLA. Member Comments/Announcements Calendar 5.
