MILITARY & VETERAN’S AFFAIRS COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 13, 2024
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chair Farabee called the meeting to order on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

2. ACTION AGENDA
a. Approval of the Regular Minutes of the Military and Veterans Affairs
Commission Regular Meeting of January 9, 2024
Chair Farabee requested a motion for approval of the minutes for the January 9,
2024, Military and Veterans Affairs Commission meeting. Commissioner Waltzer
made the motion to approve the minutes of the January 9, 2024, minutes.
Commissioner Dalpe seconded the motion.
The minutes were approved 4-0 by all Commission members present.

3. DISCUSSION
a. Resignation of Vice Chair Cassandra Facciponti
Cassandra Facciponti submitted a letter of resignation to Mr. Corey Povar and Ms.
Tawn Kai. A copy of the letter was sent to the City Clerk’s office.
b. Review of Commission Goals
i.
Military Appreciation Breakfast
Discussion included changing the date of the event to November 1, 2024
ii.
Veteran’s Day Event
The event will be held on November 11, 2024. The event may be moved to
later in the day and a better sound system is being considered.
iii.
Military Bound Event
Depending on availability of the Council Chambers, the event is being
considered for May 7 or 8, 2024.
iv.
Veteran’s Town Hall Luncheon
The event was not well attended last year. The event may be combined with
East Valley Veteran’s events.
v.
Commission Outreach
The Commission will expand its visibility to Chandler Veterans and
surrounding communities. Various items will be used when the Commission
is at an event, including, name badges, flyers, and QR coded business cards.
vi.
Quarterly Reports to City Council
The Commission will begin to submit quarterly reports to the City Council
including information on Commission events.
4. MEMBER COMMENTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
a. Stand Down event will by March 21, 2024. This event will supply resources for
homeless veterans.
5. SCHEDULED/UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC APPEARANCES
a. None

6. CALENDAR ITEMS
a. The next meeting will be February 13, at 5:00 p.m.
7. ADJOURNMENT
With no further items, Chair Farabee adjourned the meeting at 5:55 p.m.
