RESOLUTION NO. 5831 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, ARIZONA, DECLARING THE OFFICIAL CANVASS OF RESULTS FOR THE CITY OF CHANDLER PRIMARY ELECTION HELD ON JULY 30, 2024. WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VII, Section 7.01 of the Chandler City Charter, the City of Chandler, Arizona, held a Primary Election on July 30, 2024, for the purpose of electing three Councilmembers; and WHEREAS, A.R.S. § 16-642 requires that the City Council canvass the returns of the election no later than twenty (20) days following the election; and WHEREAS, the City Council, having canvassed the returns of the July 30, 2024, Primary Election pursuant to A.R.S. § 16-646, finds the returns to be as stated in this resolution. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, as follows: Section 1. That Exhibit A is declared and adopted as the official canvass of votes of the July 30, 2024, Primary Election and includes: 1. the overall citywide voter turnout; 2. the number of ballots cast in each precinct and in the city; 3. the number of ballots rejected in each precinct and in the city; 4. the titles of the offices voted for, and the names of each person voted for to fill the offices; and 5. the number of votes by precincts and city received by each candidate and the overall percentage of votes received by each candidate. Section 2. That, as shown in Exhibit A, the total number of ballots cast in the July 30, 2024, Primary Election was 46,256. The total number of registered voters was 156,645, resulting in a 29.53% voter turnout rate. Section 3. That the names of the candidates voted for at the July 30, 2024, Primary Election for the office of City Councilmember were: Christine Ellis OD Harris Jennifer Hawkins Ajlan “AJ” Kurdoglu Cicely Rocha-Miller Michael Simon Joseph Yang Resolution 5831 Page 2 Section 4. That OD Harris and Jennifer Hawkins, having received at the July 30, 2024, Primary Election a majority of all the votes cast for the office of Councilmember, are declared to be elected to those offices and are hereby issued certificates of election. Section 5. That the following named candidates, equal in number to twice the number of seats to be filled, having received at the July 30, 2024, Primary Election the greatest number of votes cast for the office of Councilmember, which number was less than the majority of all votes cast in that race, will be candidates at the General Election to be held on November 5, 2024, for the remaining seat to be filled, and are hereby issued a certificate of nomination: Christine Ellis Joseph Yang Section 6. That the City Clerk shall enter Exhibit A on the records of the City of Chandler as the official canvass.
