Domestic Violence Event 2024 – September 24th at 10 am at the Avion Center Histories of Trauma: A Story of Generations - MC (Commissioner Tipton) - Panel Speakers: (Commissioner Hinchey) o ACASI (Arizona Child & Adolescent Survivor Initiative) o DOVES (elder abuse programs) o ACESDV (Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence) o Survivor Speaker o Discussed questions for the panel and will vote at September 11 meeting - Speakers: o Need someone for the Invocation o Mayor Hartke o Councilmember Ellis o Keynote - Commissioner Grieve o Legislative Update (ACESDV) - Food: Yogurt, fruit, pastries, water, coffee - Commissioner Perez/Staff Liaison - Food: Granola, granola bars, nuts – Staff Liaison - Décor – Trees/Leaves -Staff Liaison - Placemats - Commissioner Fernandez o Boys and Girls Club will have children draw their family o Video about 10 children talking and drawing - Resource Tables - Commissioner Grieve 4. Domestic Violence Community Outreach Subcommittee - Downtown Library - October 26, 2024 genogram community workshop– 1:30-3pm o Commissioner Grieve/Commissioners/ Staff Liaison - Pride in Chandler – November 16 at A.J. Chandler Park o Staff Liaison will pay the tabling fee - Presentation on Genograms for professionals o Commissioner Grieve and Commissioner Tipton 5. Proclamation – Domestic Violence Awareness Month - Staff Liaison is waiting to hear from Mayor and Council’s office o Requested September 9th Council Meeting – 6pm o Discussed attire – purple shirt/black bottoms o Chair Codkind or Vice Chair Curtis will accept the Proclamation o Staff Liaison will inform team of the date 6. Genogram Workshop – Collaboration between DV Commission and Chandler Library - October 26 from 1:30-3pm - Presentation to the attendees and then bring them to the computer room to learn how to research their family - Set up a walk thru meeting with the library for Staff Liaison and Commissioners Page 3 of 3 Member Comments/Announcements A thank you letter will be given to Councilmember Ellis for her support to the Domestic Violence Commission Catholic Charities (Vice Chair Curtis) My Sister’s Place – VOCA fix was granted so they have funding for positions for another year ACESDV (Commissioner Hinchey) - VOCA Fix – come to Legislative Day at the Capital to advocate for VOCA and other funding for direct service - ACESDV Conference – August 14 and 15, registration still open - Pinal County Conference – September 19, registration still open - THRIVE Event – November 8th, invitation will be sent to Staff Liaison to disperse Calendar Next Regular Domestic Violence Committee meeting on September 11, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. Next Community Outreach Subcommittee meeting on September 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 10:34 a.m. ___________________________ ___________________________ Katie Cain, Staff Liaison Dawn Curtis, Vice Chair
