As part of Alexis Apodaca’s team, she will be attending meetings leading up to the Teen Leadership Academy to observe the commissioners and collaborate with Alexis on planning for the event. Unscheduled Public Appearances None. Action Agenda 1. Approval of Minutes Approval of the December 10, 2024 Mayor’s Youth Commission minutes. Action Agenda Motion and Vote COMMISSIONER Sanjana Balaji moved to approve the December 10, 2024 Mayor’s Youth Commission meeting minutes. Seconded by COMMISSIONER Abhiram Kumar. Motion carried unanimously (18-0-1). Discussion 2. Mayor’s Youth Commission Applications Chair Singhania introduced the discussion on new applications for the Mayor’s Youth Commission and encouraged commissioners to focus on recruitment efforts. Strategies included leveraging social media platforms, engaging friends and peers, and promoting the opportunity through nonprofits, clubs, and various youth programs. 3. Professional Development Opportunity: State of the City Attendance (February 13, 2025, 5:30pm – 7:30pm, Chandler Center for the Arts) The commissioners were informed about the details of the State of the City event at the Chandler Center for the Arts. The evening will begin with a lobby experience from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, featuring opportunities for networking, refreshments, and other engaging activities. Mayor Hartke’s address will commence at 6:30 PM, highlighting accomplishments from the past year and outlining future plans. 4.Teen Leadership Academy Planning Page 2 of 3 The commissioners reviewed and finalized plans for the Teen Leadership Academy, including confirming their individual leadership roles in the program. The Academy will focus on promoting civic engagement, exploring youth policy, and integrating mental health awareness. Activities will include interactive workshops, skill-building exercises, and sessions designed to help participants gain a deeper understanding of city operations. Member Comments/Announcements None.
