Unscheduled Public Appearances Willow Roesler spoke about the pink tax, which refers to the additional cost on products marketed toward women, such as razors, clothing, and skincare items. As part of a high school project, she created a digital quiz to assess public awareness of the issue and launched an online petition advocating for a ban on the pink tax in Arizona. The petition has currently gathered 117 signatures and continues to gain traction statewide. She urged commissioners to spread the word, support the cause, and help raise awareness in their communities. Action Agenda 1. Approval of Minutes Approval of the January 14, 2025 Mayor’s Youth Commission minutes. Action Agenda Motion and Vote COMMISSIONER Sanjana Balaji moved to approve the January 14, 2025 Mayor’s Youth Commission meeting minutes. Seconded by COMMISSIONER Makenzie Cole. Motion carried unanimously (19-0-0). Discussion 2. Professional Development Opportunity: State of the City Attendance (February 13, 2025, 5:30pm – 7:30pm, Chandler Center for the Arts) Chair Singhania introduced this opportunity and reminded commissioners to take pictures at the event. The expectation is for commissioners to conduct themselves professionally and represent the commission appropriately. 3. Volunteer Opportunity: Chandler Innovation Fair (February 22, 2025, 10:30am – 1:00pm, AJ Chandler Park) Four commissioners are scheduled to serve as judges for the event. Commissioners will be judging a wide variety of science projects from middle and high school students. They should be receiving reminders and are expected to be familiar with their responsibilities. 4. Volunteer Opportunity: For Our City Day (March 29, 2025, 6:30am – 12:00pm, Pamela Park Neighborhood) Page 2 of 3 Chair Singhania strongly encouraged commissioners to take part in this impactful opportunity, emphasizing it as one of the largest events commissioners can attend. Volunteers may be painting a house or alleyway, handing out snacks, or assisting with a variety of meaningful tasks. This is a great way for commissioners to make a real difference and connect with the community in a hands-on way. 5.Teen Leadership Academy Planning Commissioners reviewed and confirmed their individual responsibilities for the Teen Leadership Academy. The finalized schedule was discussed, and each commissioner explained their role. A mock day was conducted to ensure all tasks are ready to go. Member Comments/Announcements None.
