Meeting Minutes Chandler Museum Foundation Executive Subcommittee Regular Meeting March 3, 2025 | 1:00 p.m. Chandler Museum, Saguaro Room 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, Chandler, AZ Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Barbara Meyerson at 1:00 p.m. Roll Call Board Member Attendance Staff Attendance Barbara Meyerson, Chair Kim Moyers, Director, Cultural Development Joan Clark, Vice-Chair Jody Crago, Museum Manager Rich Feely, Treasurer Peter Bugg, Museum Operations Manager Absent Unscheduled Public Appearances None. Consent Agenda 1. Approve Minutes from February 3, 2025, Museum Foundation Executive Subcommittee • Rich Feely made a motion to approve Minutes from February 3, 2025, Museum Foundation Executive Subcommittee • Joan Clark seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). The minutes were approved as presented. Action Agenda 2. Recommend Appointment of Candidates for 2025 Vacancies of Museum Foundation Board Page 2 of 4 • Joan Clark made a motion to recommend appointment of candidates for 2025 vacancies of Museum Foundation Board. • Rich Feely seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). • Board Members provided reports on conversations with Cynthia Conda, M Susan Crabtree, Devin Moreno, Heather Patterson, and Chatavea Elder. • Subcommittee Members approved M Susan Crabtree, Chatavea Elder, Devin Moreno, and Heather Patterson. 3. Recommend Museum Foundation Board Approve Four Fundraising Initiatives Developed by Museum Foundation Finance Subcommittee • Joan Clark made a motion to recommend Museum Foundation Board approve four fundraising initiatives developed by Museum Foundation Finance Subcommittee. • Barbara Meyerson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). Proposal was approved as presented. • Rich Feely provided description of the fundraising initiative proposal from the Museum Foundation Finance Subcommittee o Finance Subcommittee recommends initially focusing on a reception for the House of Broadcasting or similar exhibition, the upcoming OA+D exhibition, the Eddie Basha, Jr. oral history project, and future traveling exhibitions. o The recommended format for pursuing these opportunities is to have one Board member as lead with 2-4 other Board members working on each initiative o Subcommittee members discussed how donor management would be coordinated. o Subcommittee members discussed finding or holding training for Board Members on best practices for researching and approaching donors. o Joan Clark volunteered to lead fundraising for the upcoming OA+D exhibition. Jacki Ryan was recommended to lead the fundraising team for the House of Broadcasting or similar exhibition reception. Martin Sepulveda was recommended to lead the fundraising team for the Eddie Basha, Jr. oral history project. 4. Recommend Call a Special Museum Foundation Board Meeting, March 17, 2025 @ 6:00 p.m. to Discuss Museum Foundation Strategic Plan • Rich Feely made a motion to call a Special Museum Foundation Board Meeting, March 17, 2025 @ 6:00 p.m. to discuss Museum Foundation Strategic Plan • Joan Clark seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). Proposal was accepted with the following changes: o Move start time to 6:30 p.m. • Joan Clark described proposed content of the Special Museum Foundation Board Meeting. Briefing Page 3 of 4 5. Chandler Museum Strategic Plan Updated • Meeting to select consultant will be held on March 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at City Hall. 6. Board Attendance Update • Jody Crago spoke to Adam Turner regarding attendance. If he attends all remaining meetings, he will be at 60% attendance. • All other Museum Foundation Board Members attendance is within acceptable range. 7. Marketing Workgroup Update • Marketing Workgroup is working on finding a day to meet with Becca Vega, Chandler Museum Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator, to discuss Museum Foundation Marketing efforts. 8. Bond Election Update • Kim Moyers explained that the bond approval process has moved from the recommendation committee to the steering committee. • Due to the failed school bond election, the steering committee chose to keep the amount under $500 million. Because of that, the Ranch and Tumbleweed Park request was removed from this bond. 9. Museum Manager’s Report • Ceangal/Connections exhibitions opens March 15, 2025. There will be a reception the evening of March 14, 2025. • Possible reception for I Can’t Help Myself: Jon Arvizu at the end of March. • Chandler Boards and Commissions Appreciation Event on April 16, 2025, starting at 7:30 a.m. in the Chandler City Hall Courtyard. 10.
