Meeting Minutes Chandler Museum Foundation Executive Subcommittee Regular Meeting May 7, 2025 | 2:00 p.m. Chandler Museum, Saguaro Room 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, Chandler, AZ Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Barbara Meyerson at 2:00 p.m. Roll Call Board Member Attendance Staff Attendance Barbara Meyerson, Chair Jody Crago, Museum Manager Joan Clark, Vice-Chair Peter Bugg, Museum Operations Manager Rich Feely, Treasurer Becca Vega, Marketing & Volunteer Coordinator Absent Unscheduled Public Appearances None. Consent Agenda 1. Approve Minutes from April 7, 2025, Museum Foundation Executive Subcommittee • Joan Clark made a motion to approve Minutes from April 7, 2025. • Rich Feely seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). The minutes were approved as presented. Action Agenda None. Page 2 of 4 Briefing 2. Discussion of Museum Foundation Marketing Efforts • Jacki Ryan provided a summary of the Museum Foundation Marketing Workgroup meeting on 4/25 • Marketing efforts and plans discussed included: o A Museum Foundation rack card o Updating the Museum Foundation website o Including the Museum Foundation in Chandler Museum social media posts 2- 3 times per month o Museum Foundation letter of introduction o Museum Foundation branded donation solicitation folder o Thank you cards to send to donors o Outreach to schools and senior centers, included printed flyers • The Museum Foundation Marketing Workgroup will meet on the last Friday of each month at 2 p.m. • Subcommittee members discussed the Museum Foundations marketing budget, which is a maximum of $5,000 currently • Becca Vega will create most of the marketing materials, with assistance from Caroline Hudson-Naef, Museum Community Outreach Coordinator, and Foundation Board members 3. Update on Fall Fundraising Initiative • Rich Feely provided an update on the Finance Committee’s plans for the fall fundraising initiative. • The plan will be compiled at the May 15th Finance Subcommittee Special Meeting and presented to the Museum Foundation Board at the May 19th meeting. • Joan Clark provided an update on a meeting with Eric O'Malley and Bill Scott from OA+D and the potential fundraising efforts they discussed: o OA+D supports putting all funds raised in one pool to go toward the exhibit and related events o OA+D and supporters have access to objects that may be used for a silent auction. A Museum Foundation Board member will partner with them to plan the auction. o OA+D is willing to offer ticketed/raffled tours o OA+D has connections to potentially offer tours of Cosanti. • OA+D run reception will take place in November, the Museum Foundation Board run reception will take place in September, around the time of the exhibition’s opening 4. President’s Report • The Chandler Museum has a booth at the City of Chandler’s Freedom, Hope, Future event on April 26th. The Museum conducted interviews with people who fled Vietnam and Vietnam War veterans and presented some of their stories on posters at the event. Page 3 of 4 o The event was a success and the Vietnamese community was very happy. Multiple people approached the Museum staff members at the event about sharing their oral histories in the future. o The Museum’s goal is to eventually have enough content and objects to create an exhibit related to the Vietnam War and the Vietnamese community in Chandler. • The Chandler Museum hosted Bill Stapes, Jr. on May 3rd to give an Our Stories talk titled “Baseball Behind Barbed Wire.” o This event will be the first of many events and programs in conjunction with the Gaman exhibition. • The Museum Store will be holding the 2nd annual Land Sale Week sale o New items will be added to the clearance section and made 25% off o All other items will be 10% off • New exhibition, Pony Up! Cowgirls of Chandler opens Friday, 5/9 • The Museum is starting the strategic planning process o Jody Crago told the subcommittee members about the members of the team that has been contracted to help the Museum develop the next strategic plan. o The finalized strategic plan will be presented to City Council at the meeting in February 2026 • The CUSD exhibition at the Gallery at the Chandler Center for the Arts opened on April 23rd. The exhibit has around 100 art pieces. o The opening reception was successful, with roughly 150 people in attendance. 5.
