RESOLUTION NO. 5932 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING A GRANT AGREEMENT AND  ACCEPTANCE 
OF 
GRANT 
FUNDS 
FROM 
THE 
U.S. 
DEPARTMENT 
OF 
TRANSPORTATION FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION FISCAL 
YEAR 2024 SAFE STREETS AND ROADS FOR ALL GRANT PROGRAM IN 
THE AMOUNT OF $560,000. 
 
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safe Streets and Roads for All 
(SS4A) Program provides federal funding to support the development of a Roadway Safety Action 
Plan (RSAP) and Demonstration Activities; and  
 
WHEREAS, the RSAP is a comprehensive strategy aimed at reducing and eliminating roadway 
serious-injury and fatal crashes and will inform Chandler’s potential design, infrastructure, 
education, enforcement, and traffic control modification strategies to improve safety for all road 
users. 
 
WHEREAS, in May of 2024, Council passed and adopted Resolution 5802, which authorized the 
City of Chandler’s Transportation Planning staff to apply for and accept an SS4A grant of up to 
$800,000 in federal funding for the above-stated projects; and  
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler was awarded $560,000, requiring a local match of $140,000; 
and 
 
WHEREAS, in May of 2025, USDOT amended the terms and conditions of its grant agreement to 
incorporate new required terms and conditions. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Authorizing the City Manager or his designee(s) to execute the amended grant 
agreement attached as Exhibit “A” to this Resolution, and take such actions as 
necessary to comply with the terms of the grant and perform all acts necessary to 
give effect to this Resolution. 
 
Section 2. 
Authorizing the acceptance of the SS4A grant funds up to the maximum amount 
awarded and authorizing the contribution of City of Chandler funds in the amount 
of $140,000.
