RESOLUTION NO. 5931

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER,
ARIZONA AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHANDLER AND MARICOPA
COUNTY, ON BEHALF OF THE MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE,
AUTHORIZING CHANDLER POLICE DEPARTMENT’S PARTICIPATION IN
MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE’S SWORN AND DETENTION
BASIC TRAINING ACADEMY.

WHEREAS, Maricopa County, on behalf of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (““MCSO”)
conducts sworn Arizona Peace Officers Standard Training and Detention Officer Training
Academies on an as-needed basis; and

WHEREAS, the Chandler Police Department’s sworn and detention recruits are required to be
formally trained in an acceptable training program, and MCSO has sufficient space for additional
participants to provide said training; and

WHEREAS, the City of Chandler, through its Police Department, wishes to participate in MCSO’s
Sworn and Detention Officer Training Academies for the initial term of July 1, 2025 through June
30, 2027.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona,
as follows:

Section 1. Approving the Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Chandler and
Maricopa County, on behalf of the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office, for an initial
term of July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027.

Section 2. Authorizing the Mayor to execute the Intergovernmental Agreement on behalf of
the City of Chandler.

Section 3. Authoring City staff to perform all acts necessary to give effect to this Resolution °
and comply with the terms of the Intergovernmental Agreement.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, this
day of September 2025.
