Meeting Minutes Military and Veterans Affairs Commission Regular Meeting September 9, 2025 | 5 p.m. Council Chambers Conference Room 88 E. June Military and Veterans Affairs Commission Meeting Minutes Move Military and Veterans Affairs Commission approve the meeting minutes of the June 10, 2025 regular meeting. 2. August Military and Veterans Affairs Commission Meeting Minutes Move Military and Veterans Affairs Commission approve the meeting minutes of the August 12, 2025 work session. 3. FY25-26 Budget Page 2 of 3 Approval of the following budgets for the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission's events: Military Appreciation Breakfast - $1,500 Military Bound - $2,500 Comm. Dalpe motioned to approve the consent agenda; seconded by Comm. Baker. Motion carried 7-0. Discussion 4. Objectives Discussion regarding the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission's objectives: Advise, Educate, Collaborate & Coordinate, Acknowledge & Honor No updates. 5. Military Appreciation Breakfast - Trevor Groth, Recreation Coordinator Moved to item #1 by Chair Levinson Discussion and possible action regarding supporting the Senior Center's annual Military Appreciation Breakfast, to be held Friday, November 7, 2025. Mr. Groth addressed the Commission regarding plans for this year's event. The Senior Center is working with Guitars 4 Vets and a veteran comedian to provide entertainment. Attendance will be limited to just veterans and their +1s this year. Attendance is estimated at 80. Chair Levinson motioned to approve supporting the event this year; seconded by Comm. Dalpe. Motion carried 7-0. 6. Veterans Day Discussion and possible action regarding the Veterans Day event, to be held Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. Comm. Dort asked if the Honor Wall would be incorporated into this year's event. Mr. Povar advised that name submission would open shortly, with a cutoff of October 10 for names to be installed prior to Veterans Day. He advised that a special meeting would likely be scheduled for the Commission to approve applications submitted. 7. Military Bound Discussion and possible action regarding dates and venue for the 2026 Military Bound event Page 3 of 3 Discussion ensued about utilizing the Center for the Arts as a venue. The only available date in the time frame for the event (April 20) falls on a Monday. There was concern that it is often difficult for public events to garner significant attendance on Mondays. Due to the event being invitation-only, a consensus emerged to pursue the venue for this year's event. Member Comments/Announcements 8. Announcements regarding any external events Comm. Dalpe advised that the following events were occurring: Tempe Healing Field Memorial and associated events - 9/11 - 9/14, Tempe Town Lake 9/11 Heroes Run, Travis Manion Foundation - 9/20, ASU Mountain America Stadium Glendale Stand Up for Veterans - 10/11, Arizona Christian University Calendar 9. The next regular meeting will be held on October 14, 2025 in the Chandler City Council Chambers, 88 E. Chicago Street. 10. 17th Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Event - Tuesday, September 23 – the Avion Center (1733 E Northrop Blvd, Chandler, AZ) Information Items 11. Treasury Report – Luke Cerré, Commission Secretary No updates. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 5:29 p.m.
