Meeting Minutes Chandler Museum Foundation Regular Meeting September 2, 2025| 5:30 p.m. Chandler Museum, Agave Room 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, Chandler, AZ Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Barbara Meyerson at 5:30 p.m. Roll Call Board Member Attendance Staff Attendance Barbara Meyerson, Chair Jody Crago, Museum Manager Gregory Herriman, Treasurer Peter Bugg, Museum Operations Manager Joshua Askey Mary Cimaglio Joan Clark Susan Crabtree Calvenea Malloy Devin Moreno Heather Patterson Jacki Ryan Martin Sepulveda Absent Richard Feely, Vice-Chair Shatavia Elder Unscheduled Public Appearances None. Consent Agenda 1. Approval of Minutes from August 5, 2025 Chandler Museum Foundation Board Meeting Jacki Ryan made a motion to approve of minutes from August 5, 2025 Chandler Museum Foundation Board Meeting Greg Herriman seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (11-0). The minutes were approved as presented. Action Agenda 2. Approval of Revised Spending Policy Martin Sepulveda made a motion to approve Revised Spending Policy. Page of 2 4 Jacki Ryan seconded the motion. Museum Manager Jody Crago explained the changes that were proposed to the Spending Policies o Vision Gallery Store and Consignment Policy Board Members asked about the historic revenue of the Vision Gallery’s consignment policy Motion carried unanimously (11-0). The Revised Spending Policy was approved as presented. 3. Approval of Revised 2025-2026 Budget Jacki Ryan made a motion to approve Revised 2025-2026 Budget. Martin Sepulveda seconded the motion. Museum Manager Jody Crago explained the changes that were proposed to the Spending Policies o Added Vision Gallery Revenue and Expenses o Added Chandler Museum Restricted Funds o Switched funds for Eddie Basha, Jr exhibition and OA+D exhibitions o Added Chandler Museum Postage line item o Added Recognition for Board Members o Added money to Licenses and Permits o Added money to Liability Insurance for Special Events o Added Chandler Museum Strategic Planning Board Members asked about the rentals of the Vision Gallery Motion carried unanimously (11-0). The Revised Spending Policy was approved as presented. Discussion 4. Museum Store Committee Representative Mary Cimaglio has agreed to act as the Museum Store Committee Representative. 5. Museum Marketing Workgroup Representative CMF Board Chair Barbara Meyerson suggested waiting one month until after the October 4th event to replace Calvenea Malloy on the Museum Marketing Workgroup 6. October 4th "Discover Your Museum” Event Update CMF Board Member Jacki Ryan provided updates on the status of various elements of the event: o Someburros will provide catering o Pour Masters will provide mocktails o Event may have a coffee cart o Branded cocktail and dinner napkins, possible other branded offerings o Giveaway bags with swag and thank you card o Photographer is booked o Valet company has been booked o Will be getting an off-duty officer o Step-and-repeat and décor ordered Page of 3 4 o Additional tables rented o Check-in lists and sticky nametags will be printed for guests o Table décor is in progress o Outside lighting installation in process o Outside benches are being resurfaced Board members discussed what time to arrive and dress code 7. Keen Strategic Planning Research Strategic Planning open house will be September 6, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. Online survey is live Select CMF Board members will be invited to give be interviewed by Keen Consulting staff 8. Basha Oral History Report Museum staff have ninety oral history interviews that can be pulled from to use in the exhibition as quotes or 30-second, or less, videos. Museum Storytelling Coordinator Sarah Biggerstaff will travel to the Navajo Nation with a City of Chandler CAPA staff, a videographer, and a drone pilot on October 22 and 23 to interview Basha team members and capture B-Roll footage o Navajo Nation permitting is in process Mrs. Biggerstaff is scheduling an interview with Eddie Basha, Jr.’s sister Former Mayor Jay Tibshraeny declined to be interviewed for the exhibition Mrs. Biggerstaff is working on scheduling multiple additional oral histories 9. Board Chair Report A sympathy card for Mrs. Malloy and her family was being sent around. Mrs. Meyerson shared her commentary on the museum strategic planning process. 10.Museum Manager Report Ceangal/Connections and ¡MONSTRAS! exhibitions both came down at the end of August. Sonoran Shapes + Structures and The Newest Americans exhibitions will both open during September The McCullough-Price house was painted, had the wood stained and refinished, had the scuppers replaced, and will be having multiple doors replaced with ADA accessible doors. The benches in front of the museum entrance will be refinished in September The Ranch at Tumbleweed Park 90% drawings for Phase 1 have been completed o When 100% designs are completed, they will go out for bid for Phase 1 Acting City Manager John Pombier held an event at Vision Gallery that was well attended The City of Chandler has 2 new Deputy City Managers The Chandler Museum is actively involved in planning for the City of Chandler’s America 250 Celebration o The museum will produce an exhibition on the 27 flags that have represented the United States of America Vision Gallery opened So Fun! An Exploration in Maximalism at the end of August o Vision Gallery Visual Arts Specialist, Hanley Ange curated the exhibition and was interviewed on Arizona Family The Chandler Museum had two successful programs on August 15 and 16 Page of 4 4 o August 15 – Wasp Woman Film Screening o August 16 – The Legends Continue Lecture and Performance with Cultural Coalition Briefing None. Member Comments 1. Mrs. Ryan ordered additional Chandler Museum Foundation rack cards 2. Mrs. Ryan shared that a Chandler Service Club event that will be renting space at the Chandler Museum 3. CMF Board Member Martin Sepulveda shared a potential oral history interviewee 4. Mr. Sepulveda shared the Arizona Historymakers event at Papago Park that the Arizona Historical Society puts on and recommended that CMF Board Members attend 5. CMF Board Member Greg Herriman shared that Chandler Adaptive Recreation will be holding the You Look Fabulous Fashion Show on September 20th Member Announcements None. Calendar 6.
