Meeting Minutes Chandler Museum Foundation Executive Subcommittee Regular Meeting October 22, 2025 | 2:00 p.m. Chandler Museum, Saguaro Room 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, Chandler, AZ Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Barbara Meyerson at 2:00 p.m. Roll Call Board Member Attendance Staff Attendance Barbara Meyerson, Chair Jody Crago, Museum Manager Rich Feely, Vice-Chair Peter Bugg, Museum Operations Manager Greg Herriman, Treasurer Kristine Clark, Museum Curator Becca Vega, Marketing & Volunteer Coordinator Absent Unscheduled Public Appearances None. Consent Agenda 1. Approve Minutes from September 9, 2025, Museum Foundation Executive Subcommittee. • Board Member Rich Feely made a motion to approve Minutes from September 9, 2025. • Board Member Greg Herriman seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). The minutes were approved as presented. Action Agenda Page 2 of 4 2. Consideration and Recommendation of Applicants for Appointment to the Chandler Museum Foundation to Fill an Unscheduled Vacancy • Mr. Feely made a motion to make recommendations to the Chandler Museum Foundation of applicants for appointment to fill an unscheduled vacancy. • Mr. Herriman seconded the motion. • Mr. Feely shared about the process so far and going forward for reviewing applicants o The Governance Subcommittee reviewed the 2025 applicants at the October 13, 2025 meeting. Mr. Feely shared about the Subcommittee’s notes on the two applicants being recommended to be considered by the Chandler Museum Foundation: 1. Christopher McMillan a. He has served on multiple boards, including Chandler Cultural Foundation b. He is committed to history c. He has a strong existing donor base 2. Gretchen Pace a. She has experience on multiple Boards b. She grew up in Chandler • Motion carried unanimously (3-0). The applicants were recommended as presented. Briefing 3. Discussion of Opening Event for Eddie Basha Exhibition • Subcommittee members discussed what kind of event the opening event will be o Subcommittee members suggested approaching the friends of Mr. Basha to act as sponsors for the event to make it special • Board Member Jacki Ryan shared a preliminary draft of a budget for the event o Mrs. Ryan shared that if the event has alcohol and catered food, the cost will likely be a significant increase from the price of the October 4th Discover Your Museum event o Mrs. Ryan and Museum Operations Manager Peter Bugg will start the alcohol permit process with the City of Chandler as soon as possible • Subcommittee members decided that the event should be invite only and ticketed • Museum Manager Jody Crago shared what he has heard from Nadine Basha, Eddie Basha Jr.’s widow. o Mrs. Basha does not want the event to be just friends and family • Key elements of the event will be decided no later than the January 2026 Executive Subcommittee meeting • Staff and subcommittee members will gather a list of friends of Mr. Basha who may be interested in sponsoring the event. • At the next Executive Subcommittee meeting, Jacki Ryan will provide updated budget options. Museum Manager's Report. • All exhibition spaces at the Chandler Museum are full o Echoes Unearthed by Dean Terasaki opened Tuesday, October 21 • The Ireichō: Book of Names event on November 1 from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. is fully planned out with speakers and interactives • The Chandler Museum received a donation after the October 4th event in the name of the name of the Gila River Indian Community • Chandler Museum received $81 in annual royalties for Chandler book • Mr. Crago and Mr. Bugg shared about a rental that was scheduled on the day of a recent major rainstorm o The rental clients requested tenting, which was not possible on short notice due to inability to have Fire Marshal inspection o The rental clients found a new venue and cancelled their rental at the Chandler Museum o The contract said that the clients would still be charged, but Mr. Crago decided not to charge the rental clients o Mr. Crago and Mr. Bugg suggested adding an “act of God”/extreme weather event cancellation clause to rental agreement • Chandler Museum sent out annual Friends of the Chandler Museum renewal emails to October 2024 Friends o 2 renewals were received so far • Chandler Museum Storytelling Coordinator Sarah Biggerstaff and Chandler Museum Registrar Rochelle Mattingly went to the White Mountain Apache reservation to do interviews for oral histories Page 4 of 4 • Mrs. Biggerstaff was in the Navajo Nation at the time of this meeting to do oral history interviews. A drone operator was also there capturing drone footage for the Eddie Basha, Jr. exhibition. Member Comments None. Member Announcements None. Calendar 6.
