RESOLUTION NO. 5953 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT 
(IGA) BETWEEN THE CITY OF TEMPE AND THE CITY OF CHANDLER 
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE KYRENE BRANCH AND HIGHLINE 
CANAL SHARED USE PATH PROJECT  
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler has received federal grant funding to construct improvements 
along the Kyrene Branch and Highline Canals; and 
 
WHEREAS, residents of both the City of Chandler and the City of Tempe will benefit from the 
improvements made with this project; and    
 
WHEREAS, a portion of this project falls within City of Tempe right-of-way; and  
 
WHEREAS, Tempe will be responsible for local match costs resulting from the work conducted 
in Tempe right-of-way.  
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Tempe and the 
City of Chandler. 
 
Section 2. 
Authorizing the Mayor to sign and execute the agreement on behalf of the City of 
Chandler. 
 
Section 3. 
Authorizing the City of Chandler to receive payment from Tempe and to reimburse 
Tempe a portion of this payment if, after construction closeout, actual costs in 
Tempe are found to have been less than originally estimated.
