Purpose of the Grant
The purpose of this grant is to support Arizona Facts of Life’s (AZFOL) seven-week
Summer Youth Program, which provides safe, structured, and enriching summer
educational programming for youth ages 7-15 in Chandler. Grant funds will help cover
staffing, meals, transportation, and enrichment activities to ensure the program remains
free and accessible for families facing economic and social barriers during out-of-school
months.
Project Summary
AZFOLs Summer Youth Program operates Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.,
June 1 - July 17, 2027, serving at least 60 unduplicated youth with an average daily
attendance of 45. Youth participate in physical activity, arts and crafts, field trips, health
and nutrition education, and personal development using AZFOLs FACTS curriculum.
Daily meals, snacks, and transportation for enrichment activities are provided at no cost.
Impact on the City of Chandler
This program directly benefits Chandler families by offering a safe, no-cost summer
option that reduces gaps in supervision, food access, and educational enrichment for
youth from low-income households. By partnering with the Chandler Community Center,
AZFOL strengthens local community infrastructure, supports working families, and
promotes positive youth development. The program helps reduce summer learning loss,
supports healthy behaviors, and fosters long-term resilience among Chandler's youth.
