RESOLUTION NO. 5982 
AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF CHANDLER TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT 
OF ITS COST SHARE UNDER THE AGREEMENT TO SHARE COSTS FOR 
THE FEASIBILITY STUDY OF BARTLETT DAM MODIFICATION 
ALTERNATIVES FROM $400,000 TO $688,000. 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler receives a portion of its water supply from the Salt River Federal 
Reclamation Project (the “Project”), which includes Bartlett and Horseshoe reservoirs on the 
Verde River (the “Verde Reservoirs”); and 
WHEREAS, the Salt River Agricultural Improvement District (Salt River Project or “SRP”) 
operates the Project under an agreement with the United States Department of the Interior’s Bureau 
of Reclamation (“Reclamation”); and 
WHEREAS, Reclamation and SRP conducted a Verde Reservoirs Sediment Mitigation Study to 
investigate options to restore capacity lost in the Verde Reservoirs due to sediment accumulation; 
and 
WHEREAS, Reclamation recommended a feasibility study to evaluate the proposed Bartlett Dam 
Modification alternatives and determine the technical, environmental, economic, and financial 
feasibility of implementing modifications to Bartlett Dam; and 
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 5539 adopted in January 2022, Chandler entered into an 
Agreement to Share Costs for the Feasibility Study of Bartlett Dam Modification Alternatives 
Among Various Participating Entities and Salt River Agricultural Improvement and Power District 
(the “Cost Share Agreement”) under which Chandler agreed to contribute $100,000 per year for 
four years, or $400,000 total, to the estimated nonfederal cost share for the feasibility study (the 
“Cost Share”); and 
WHEREAS, the Cost Share Agreement provides for an increase in the Cost Share to be assessed 
based on an increase in the estimated cost of the feasibility study; and 
WHEREAS, as a result of change orders to the engineering contract and environmental survey 
contract, the total estimated cost of the feasibility study is projected to increase from $27,634,000 
to $32,905,000 and the non-federal cost share from $7,680,000 to $14,091,000; and 
WHEREAS, Chandler’s Cost Share is projected to increase from $400,000 to $688,000. 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
Section 1. 
Authorizing the City of Chandler to increase its Cost Share to $688,000 under the 
Cost Share Agreement.

Section 2. 
The Mayor is authorized to sign this Resolution directing the Director of Public 
Works & Utilities to execute any documents necessary to fulfill Chandler’s 
increased Cost Share under the Cost Share Agreement.
