Meeting Minutes Chandler Museum Foundation Regular Meeting March 3, 2026| 5:30 p.m. Chandler Museum, Agave Room 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, Chandler, AZ Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Barbara Meyerson at 5:31 pm. Approve Minutes from February 3, 2026 Chandler Museum Foundation Board Meeting Board Member Mary Cimaglio made a motion to approve minutes from the February 3, 2026 Chandler Museum Foundation Board Meeting. Board Member Devin Moreno seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (9-0). The minutes were approved as presented. Action Agenda 2. Approve Adjustment of the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Chandler Museum Foundation Budget to $14,000 for Exhibit Events. Page of 2 3 Board Treasurer Gregory Herriman made a motion to approve adjustment of the fiscal year 2025-26 Chandler Museum Foundation budget to $14,000 for exhibit events. Board Member Jacki Ryan seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (9-0). Discussion 3. Update on Eddie Basha Exhibition Opening Event Mrs. Ryan shared updates on the exhibition opening event: o The liquor license will be printed and visible at the bar. o The bartender invoice will come in this week. o Mrs. Moreno will pick up the linens on Wednesday. o Flowers will be picked up at 4 pm. o Catering will be at the Museum between 3 pm and 3:30 pm. o Mrs. Ryan will be here at 3:30 pm at the latest. o Barriers have been delivered. o Mrs. Moreno, Mrs. Cimaglio, and Board Member Martin Sepulveda will be stationed at the registration table. o Mr. Herriman will bring additional lighting that will be used if necessary. o Two off-duty police officers will serve as security from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. o Board Member Heather Patterson will make “no alcohol beyond this point” signs. o Board members will arrive at 4:30 pm. Mr. Sepulveda suggested that Board members informally introduce themselves to community members at the event. 4. Update on Museum Donor Wall Mr. Herriman shared that a reusable stretch banner display was purchased for $475. A workgroup is developing suggestions for a long-term donor wall. Suggestions include using the existing lightboxes in the categories of culture, history, and art as well as rotating lightboxes every six months. The workgroup will determine donation levels. Board Chair Barbara Meyerson suggested that the Board should ensure that there is enough money in the budget to change the lightboxes with this frequency. Board Member Shatavia Elder shared that there could be a permanent name opportunity for higher donations. Mrs. Ryan suggested that the Museum send an annual donors newsletter. 5. Update on Chandler Museum Strategic Planning Museum Manager Jody Crago shared that the steering committee received an executive summary and text for the full report. Cultural Development Director Kim Moyers and Mr. Crago will bring the strategic plan to city leadership after copyedits are completed. The goal is to provide the strategic plan to the Board in April. 6. Board Chair’s Report Mrs. Meyerson shared that she met a woman who worked at a Bashas’ grocery store and encouraged her to visit the exhibition. Page of 3 3 Many of the future visitors to the Being Eddie Basha exhibition will likely have stories about Eddie. Mrs. Meyerson suggested that staff could allow people to share their stories. 7. Museum Manager’s Report Mr. Crago shared that there has been lots of community outreach efforts, including Artists in Schools. Mr. Crago also spoke about the Eddie Basha exhibition at an outreach opportunity to Maricopa Historical Society. 52 people attended. The Radio that Rocked the Valley exhibition will open on March 24, 2026. The trimming of landscaping will continue. Being Eddie Basha includes more objects than previous exhibitions along with 50 pages of information. Museum staff had a productive meeting with the Heard Museum about Eddie Basha’s baskets, some of which will be on display at the Chandler Museum in 2027. Briefing None. Member Comments Mr. Sepulveda inquired about an update for the unscheduled Board vacancy. An update will be provided at a future meeting. Mr. Sepulveda asked if any members of the Navajo Nation RSVPed to the Being Eddie Basha opening event. Mr. Crago stated that he did not know who specifically had RSVPed. Mrs. Ryan shared that she met an individual who has a mammoth skeleton. For a fee, the mammoth could be displayed at the Chandler Museum. Member Announcements None. Calendar 2.
