RESOLUTION NO. 5996 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT 
BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHANDLER, THE CITY OF MESA, AND THE 
TOWN OF GILBERT FOR A DOWNSTREAM IMPACT STUDY RELATED 
TO THE PROPOSED SALT RIVER PROJECT/CENTRAL ARIZONA 
PROJECT INTERCONNECTION FACILITY.  
 
WHEREAS, Chandler, Mesa, and Gilbert own and operate water treatment facilities downstream 
of the proposed Salt River Project/Central Arizona Project Interconnection Facility (SCIF); and 
 
WHEREAS, Chandler, Mesa, and Gilbert anticipate that the proposed SCIF may adversely affect 
the operation of their downstream water treatment facilities; and 
 
WHEREAS, Chandler, Mesa, and Gilbert wish to engage a professional consultant to study the 
potential effects of the SCIF on their facilities and to share in the costs associated with such study; 
and 
 
WHEREAS, Chandler is authorized to enter into intergovernmental agreements with other public 
agencies under Ariz. Rev. Stat. § 11-952. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Approving the terms and conditions of the intergovernmental agreement with the 
Town of Gilbert and the City of Mesa in substantially the form attached as Exhibit 
“A” to this Resolution.  
 
Section 2. 
Authorizing the Public Works and Utilities Director of the City of Chandler to 
execute the intergovernmental agreement on behalf of the City of Chandler.
