RESOLUTION NO. 6014 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE NOMINATION OF A QUALIFYING 
CENSUS TRACT BOUNDED WEST TO EAST BY ALMA SCHOOL ROAD 
AND ARIZONA AVENUE, AND NORTH TO SOUTH BY RAY ROAD AND 
CHANDLER BOULEVARD, FOR INCLUSION IN THE OPPORTUNITY 
ZONES PROGRAM. 
 
WHEREAS, Opportunity Zones is a federal program to encourage private investment in lower 
income areas, defined as census tracts with an individual poverty rate of at least 20 percent or 
median family income of up to 70 percent of the area median (“Qualifying Census Tracts”); and 
 
WHEREAS, each state is authorized to designate a certain number of Qualifying Census Tracts 
for inclusion in the Opportunity Zones program, and the Arizona Commerce Authority has 
requested nominations from the City of Chandler; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler has three Qualifying Census Tracts, shown in Exhibit “A”, 
attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference (“Chandler Qualifying Census Tracts”), 
and may nominate one of the Chandler Qualifying Census Tracts for consideration by the State of 
Arizona; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler has evaluated the three Chandler Qualifying Census Tracts 
based on potential for the Opportunity Zones program to encourage redevelopment activities and 
support long-term economic growth; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler desires to nominate one of the Chandler Qualifying Census 
Tracts shown in Exhibit “B”, attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference (“Chandler 
Selected Census Tract”), for inclusion in the Opportunity Zones program. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
The Mayor and City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, authorize the 
City Manager or designee to execute and submit all documents necessary to 
nominate the Chandler Selected Census Tract for inclusion in the 
Opportunity Zones program.
