Thank you for your reply and for explaining this. 
 
I understand this is not a new dog play area, and that Dogtopia has been operating there since 2020. 
 
My only concern is that the outdoor dog area is very close to BASIS Chandler, and that up to 40 dogs may be 
outside at one time. Since no noise study was required or performed, I would appreciate it if the City could 
consider whether some reasonable operating conditions may be appropriate if the permit is approved. 
 
For example, the City may wish to consider conditions such as: 
 
limiting how many dogs can be outside at one time;  
 
bringing dogs inside if there is repeated or sustained barking;  
 
maintaining proper odor and sanitation controls;  
 
providing a clear process for handling complaints;  
 
reviewing the permit again if repeated issues arise.  
 
I understand the business has been operating for several years, and I do not want to overstate the issue. I 
simply hope the City will consider reasonable safeguards because the outdoor dog area is located so close to a 
school.
