65. ADDITION TO FLEET FOR OFFICE OF THE MEDICAL EXAMINER Approve an addition to the Office of the Medical Examiner's (OME) fleet of a mid-size 4X4 truck with crew cab, approximately $45,000. The OME is statutorily mandated to investigate deaths meeting the reporting criteria in ASRS 11-593. The majority of these deaths require a scene investigation to be performed by a Medicolegal Death Investigator (MDI). In calendar year 2025, MDIs performed over 4,500 death scene investigations. Additional uses of the fleet vehicles include collecting hospital-obtained specimens for toxicology testing. The OME currently has 9 vehicles in its fleet. During peak times, it is not uncommon for all of the vehicles in service to be in use, and an MDI waits for a vehicle to be returned so that they can respond to a death scene. This additional vehicle will allow the OME to promptly respond to death scenes during all times of the year, especially summer surge months. (C-29-26-004-X-00)
