64. TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF RETIRING EQUINE APOLLO Approve the transfer of ownership of retiring mounted equine Apollo to Lieutenant Ranck, SN #S1813. Apollo has served 5 years with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Mounted Unit. He has served the Office with strength, calmness and dignity while participating in patrol operations, community engagement events, crowd management details and various law enforcement support functions. Apollo is a 9-year-old Clydesdale and is suffering from several medical issues including severe cartilage degradation, arthritis and hoof abscesses. He has been out of service for the last year while receiving medical treatment. Due to his declining health, it is in his best interest to be retired. Lieutenant Ranck is aware of the medical issues and willing to accept the full care and financial responsibility for Apollo upon transfer of ownership and will be asked to sign the Release and Indemnification.
