of the executive branch, concerning the funding for such personnel, see Reinhold v. Navajo County, 139
Ariz. 227, 232 (App. 1984), and Maricopa County v. Dann, 157 Ariz. 396, 399 (1988);
WHEREAS, Maricopa County is responsible for the employee related expenditures of justices of the
peace, per A.R.S. § 22-117(D);
WHEREAS, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has authority to provide salary and wage plans
and paid leave to Maricopa County employees per A.R.S. §§ 11-251(38) and (51); and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable for the justices of the peace to cooperate with Maricopa County
with respect to policies directed toward compensation and paid leave for employees of the Maricopa
County Justice Courts;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the following County policies, as may be amended from time to time,
are hereby adopted and declared as policies of the Maricopa County Justice Courts:
• Maricopa County Internal Policy No. HR2415 (titled, “Employee Leave”)
• Maricopa County Internal Policy No. HR2470 (titled, “Compensation Policy”)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the justices of the peace reserve the right to raise exceptions to the
foregoing policies, as well as additional provisions, as may be necessary to carry out their judicial
functions.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED on this _____ day of May 2021 at a regular open meeting of the
Justices of the Peace of Maricopa County, Arizona, at which meeting a quorum was present and voting.
