REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Approve a one-year contract renewal with Arizona Elevator Solutions for elevator 
maintenance, service, and repair for all City buildings.
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total cost of the contract renewal will not exceed $350,000. Sufficient funds 
have been appropriated in General Fund, Cost Center 1871 (Facilities Services) for anticipated 
expenditures in the current fiscal year and the next fiscal year, contingent upon City Council approval of 
the City’s annual budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the contract renewal.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: (T21-072-01) On January 14, 2021, City Council approved the 
award of a two-year contract, with three, one-year renewal options to Arizona Elevator Solutions for 
elevator inspections, maintenance, and repair for all City buildings. This renewal request is the second 
of three, one-year renewal options.
There are currently 34 operating elevators in City buildings. Thirty-one are hydraulic and three are 
traction. Each elevator requires a monthly one-hour safety and performance inspection. Floor to floor 
time, door open/close times, leveling accuracy and emergency stop are some of the monthly tests that 
are conducted. Elevator repairs will be performed as needed.

Renewal Pricing
The Contractor is requesting a 5.7% price increase for this renewal. Based on inflation of fuel, parts, and 
labor over the past
year, staff considers this increase to be fair and reasonable.
