REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Approve an increase in the contract amount with Reyes & Sons Landscaping, LLC for 
landscape maintenance services for City facilities.
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total cost of the contract will increase by $50,000 to a new not exceed amount 
of $180,000. Sufficient funds have been appropriated in the Highway User Revenue Fund, Cost Center 
3814 (Right-of-Way Maintenance), for anticipated expenditures during the current fiscal year and next 
fiscal year, contingent upon City Council approval of the City’s annual budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the contract increase.  
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: (T23-125-01) City Council awarded this contract on March 16, 
2023 to Reyes & Sons Landscaping for bi-monthly landscape maintenance services for City facilities.  
All services performed under this contract are in accordance with Chapter 13A of the Tempe City Code 
relating to Environmental Programs and Standards. The awarded contractor’s employees operate 
battery-powered blowers and trimmers to perform maintenance services.
The additional increase request of $50,000 is due to the need for additional work necessary for the 
transition of contracts. This contract is up for renewal in March of 2024; annual spend projections will be 
updated for the forthcoming renewal.
