REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  PUBLIC HEARING ITEM Hold the second and final public hearing to adopt an ordinance 
amending Chapter 2, Article V, Division 20, Section 2-365, regarding membership on the Tempe 
Veterans Commission. The first public hearing was held on December 21, 2023. (Ordinance No. 
O2024.02)
FISCAL IMPACT:  N/A
RECOMMENDATION:  Adopt Ordinance No. O2024.02.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  At the April 12, 2023, Tempe Veterans Commission meeting, the 
Commission requested that the City Council review their recommendation to amend Chapter 2, Article 
V, Division 20, Section 2-365 of the Tempe City Code. The Commission would like to update the service 
area criteria needed in order to serve on the commission and replace the seat reserved for Arizona 
Coalition of Military Families to a representative from a Tempe veterans service organization. The 
Veterans Commission voted to approve this request with eight (8) Commissioners voting aye, and no 
Commissioners abstaining.
