RESOLUTION R19-07-17 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL MIRAGE, ARIZONA UPDATING THE 2018 CITY COUNCIL HANDBOOK BY ADDING A TRAVEL SECTION TO POLICIES & PROTOCOL RELATED TO CONDUCT WHEREAS, the City Council Handbook was updated and adopted by Council at the June 19,2018 Regular Council meeting; and WHEREAS, Council wishes to add a section related to travel policies for Mayor and Councilmembers; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of El Mirage, Arizona, as follows; Section 1. The Codes of Ethics section of the City Council Handbook shall be ; amended to add the following language immediately after the first paragraph titled “Attendance” under “POLICIES & PROTOCOL RELATED TO CONDUCT”: Section 2. Travel The Mayor and Councilmembers may occasionally need to travel to functions where the City will be represented or for Councilmembers _to obtain necessary training. Councilmembers all recognize that travel _at the City’s expense should be limited and provide a benefit_to all residents. Requirements to be considered for Councilmember travel are 1) any out-of-state travel must_be approved by a supermajority of Council (minimum_ of five) prior to committing to attend a function, 2) in-state travel will not require Council approval, and 3) a follow-up report shall be made public at the subsequent Council Meeting for all travel paid with City finds.
