Dear Chairman Galvin,

I have had the honor of serving as the Justice of the Peace for the North Valley
Justice Court since I was appointed by the Board of Supervisors on 21 April
2004. I have been reelected in every election between then and now; but have
decided not to seek reelection next year.

In order to have a transition that is as smooth as is possible, I am giving you
advance notice of my departure to enable the Board of Supervisors to
determine and to appoint a replacement prior to New Judge Orientation, which
is only held in January each year. Accordingly, my resignation will be
effective 1 November 2025.

I have applied to be a pro tem justice of the peace and will be available to
continue to serve in that capacity wherever I am needed and can hopefully be
useful. If requested, I can be a resource for my replacement.

Being a trial court judge for over two decades has been a genuine honor. I am
proud of Maricopa County and of Arizona’s court system. I remain thankful
for the trust and confidence that a different Board of Supervisors placed in me
21 years ago and have never taken for granted the voters who repeatedly
returned me to the courtroom since.
