RESOLUTION R24-08-22
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL
MIRAGE, ARIZONA, TO RESCIND RESOLUTION R24-02-04 COMMITTING
SLFRF FUNDING AS A MATCH TO THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF
MARICOPA COUNTY PROJECT FOR REDEVELOPMENT OF THE FLORA
STATLER APARTMENTS.
WHEREAS, There is within the City of El Mirage a shortage of affordable housing and the
City of El Mirage exercises all its power and authority granted to it in Title 36, Chapter l 2 of the
Arizona Revised Statutes, including, but not limited to facilitating federal, state, and local grants,
loans, and other available funds to assist in the provision of adequate housing for its residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of El Mirage has identified affordable housing as a beneficial use of
State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF); and
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of Maricopa County requested support for the project in
El Mirage referred to as the Flora Statler Apartments; and
WHEREAS, the City of El Mirage approved to provide $500,000 of SLFRF funding
through Resolution R24-02-04; and
WHEREAS,  the Housing Authority of Maricopa County has deemed the project to be
financially unfeasible to meet the Federal timeframe for spending the committed SLFRF funds,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of El
Mirage, Arizona as follows:
1.
Resolution R24-02-04, approving a match of $500,00 to the Housing Authority of
Maricopa County, be rescinded, and
2.
The allocated $500,000 from the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds for the Flora
Statler apartments be re-allocated to meet the Federal timeframe for spending SLFRF
funds.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the city of El Mirage this 20th day
of August, 2024.
