RESOLUTION NO. R24-129
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GLENDALE,
MARICOPA
COUNTY,
ARIZONA,
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE ENTERING OF THE
INDUSTRIAL ASSESSMENT CENTERS IMPLEMENTATION
GRANT FUND AGREEMENT WITH DEFENSEWERX AND
THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY FOR HVAC CHILLERS
GRANT FUNDING; AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
AND EXPENDITURE OF THE GRANT AWARD IN THE
AMOUNT OF $300,000.
WHEREAS, DEFENSEWERX and the Department of Energy (DOE) are awarding the
grant to the City of Glendale through the Industrial Assessment Centers (IAC) Implementation
Funding Program, which will support the replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air
conditioning (HVAC) chillers at the West Area Water Reclamation Facility (West Area WRF);
and
WHEREAS, the West Area WRF had a condition assessment that was performed in 2020,
which recommended HVAC improvements. In July 2024, the City applied for an Industrial
Assessment Implementation Grant with DOE to aid the replacement of two HVAC chillers and
was awarded grant funding; and
WHEREAS, the IAC Implementation grant agreement will fund the procurement of the
chillers in an amount of $300,000, which is about 48% of the cost. The chiller replacement is
expected to be completed by December 2025.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows:
SECTION 1. That it is deemed in the best interest of the City of Glendale and the citizens
thereof that the DEFENSEWERX and DOE IAC Implementation Grant for HVAC chillers be
entered into, which agreement is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Glendale.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager or designee and the City Clerk are authorized and
directed to execute and deliver all documents necessary to effectuate the acceptance and
expenditure of the grant award on behalf of the City of Glendale.
