CITY COUNCIL REPORT SUBJECT: City of Tolleson Community Grant Program Committee Appointments MEETING DATE: January 14, 2025 TO: Mayor and Council FROM: Crystal Zamora, City Clerk REVIEWED: Reyes Medrano Jr., City Manager PURPOSE: Appoint Council Members Christine Chavira, Linda Laborin and Cruzita Mendoza as members of the Tolleson Community Grant Program Subcommittee to serve from January 14, 2025 until December 8, 2026. BACKGROUND: The City of Tolleson Community Grant Program provides direct monetary grants to help further nonprofit organizations for projects and activities that provide health and human services which improve the quality of life for Tolleson residents. Nonprofit 501(C) 3 agencies are also eligible to apply. Applications for the 2025 grant cycle will be available starting February 1, 2025, at 8:00 AM. DISCUSSION: The Tolleson Community Grant Program Subcommittee rotates its membership every two years to ensure balanced representation and fresh perspectives. Vice Mayor Davis, Council Member Erives, and Council Member Gámez have recently completed their terms. The proposed appointments of Council Members Chavira, Laborin, and Mendoza will continue the tradition of dedicated oversight and equitable grant distribution. BUDGET IMPACT: There is no additional budget impact associated with these appointments. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council approve the appointments of Council Members Christine Chavira, Linda Laborin, and Cruzita Mendoza to the Tolleson Community Grant Program Subcommittee for the term of January 14, 2025 through December 8, 2026.
