3. LAND SURVEY EQUIPMENT TRADE-IN DISCOUNT Approve the trade-in of two (2) pieces of land surveying equipment for a discount towards the purchase of a new capital item. The Land Survey Branch of the Department of Transportation has a unique opportunity to save a significant amount of money on a capital equipment purchase. This equipment would normally cost $52,000, however , through some significant discounts and trade-ins the manufacturer is offering , we can purchase this for $34,400. A cost savings of $17,600, of which $7,600 would come from the equipment trade-ins. The first trade-in discount is $900.00 for a broken survey collector which has no or minimal third party value. The second trade-in discount is $6,700.00 for a 20 year old obsolete piece of equipment that we no longer use which is worth approximately $1,000.00 if sold to a third party.
