PROCLAMATION: Human and Sex Trafficking Awareness Month.
Human and sex trafficking are serious crimes that violate human rights and impact communities, including the Town of Fountain Hills. Because trafficking can occur in plain sight, awareness, education, and community involvement are essential to prevention and to supporting victims and survivors.NOW THEREFORE, the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Fountain Hills proclaim the month of January as Human & Sex Trafficking Awareness Month, and encourage all residents, businesses, schools, and community organizations to learn the signs of trafficking and work together to protect the safety and dignity of our community.

The Town of Fountain Hills recognizes the Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life movement as an important effort to connect youth, schools, families, government, and law enforcement to prevent youth suicides and tragedies. The proclamation emphasizes that warning signs often appear in person or online, and that empowering young people and adults to speak up, seek help, and report concerns can save lives. It highlights the program’s statewide impact, reaching students from 169 schools and more than 500,000 youth across Arizona. Accordingly, the Mayor and Town Council proclaim January as Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life Month and encourage schools, parents, educators, law enforcement, and community organizations to participate in awareness and prevention activities that promote safety and healthy environments for children and adolescents.
