6. SEPTEMBER NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH Presentation regarding the National Preparedness Month. At the conclusion of the presentation, approve The National Preparedness Month Resolution. Pete Weaver, Director The Department of Emergency Management will begin with a general overview of the need for household preparedness in Maricopa County. Maricopa County will be joining local governments and state agencies around the country in recognizing September as Preparedness Month. A recent survey of county residents revealed that 40% have done nothing to prepare to shelter themselves in their homes for any length of time and 60% responded that they have done nothing to prepare for an evacuation. With the advent of the H1N1 flu, the concept of personal preparedness has taken on additional meaning and the importance of raising awareness within our community continues to grow. 19. SUPERIOR COURT ELECTRONIC COURTROOM PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION Pursuant to A.R.S. § 42-17106, transfer FY 2009-10 expenditure appropriation in the amount of $101,100 from the Non-Departmental (470) Non-Departmental Grants Fund (249) Non-Recurring/Non-Project (0001) Potential Expenditures from Fund Balance line to Superior Court (800) Special Revenue Fund (259) Non-Recurring/Non-Project (0001). Approval of this action will allow the Superior Court to fund installation of previously procured electronic courtroom equipment in six Superior Court courtrooms, which are East Court Building (ECB) 611, ECB 711, ECB 714, ECB 811, ECB 814 and the Central Court Building ninth floor hearing room. In addition, this funding will allow the Superior Court to fund $37,100 for the purchase and installation of electronic courtroom recording equipment for the South East Facility (SEF) 203 courtroom. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of necessary electronic courtroom equipment to outfit six Superior Court courtrooms with complete electronic recording systems in FY 2009. While there was time to procure the equipment with FY 2009 funds, there was inadequate time to install it prior to the end of FY 2009. Therefore, this item is essentially a continuance of a previously reviewed item and requests funds to have the equipment installed within the six courtrooms. Superior Court Administration requested that the Electronic Recording division of Court Technology Services (CTS) procure the necessary equipment and installation services to outfit a courtroom located at the SEF location with a complete electronic recording system. CTS obtained quotes for these items from Exhibit One, who is the contracted vendor. (C-80-10-004-2-00)

The grant includes a 120-day start-up period to allow for the purchase of classroom materials, construction of playgrounds and completion of minor building renovations, classroom set-up and licensing, recruitment and enrollment of families, and staff recruitment and training. The total federal funds require a non-Federal Share (NFS) match of $477,649, or 25 percent. We provide this match through in-kind contributions.
