18. COMPETITION IMPRACTICABLE TO DEUTSCH ARCHITECTURE GROUP FOR JUVENILE DETENTION KITCHEN REMODELS Approve Competition Impracticable for Architectural Services - Deutsch Architecture Group. Juvenile Detention is currently receiving meals directly from the LBJ Food Factory. These meals are delivered via rethermilazation units designed to keep the food warm/cold. These retherm units are being phased out at the end of the 2014 calendar year. A Juvenile Detention Food Services Assessment was done to evaluate the existing Juvenile Detention kitchens to determine what modifications would be required to bring these kitchens up to code and turn them into full food service kitchens. Deutsch Architecture was involved in this Juvenile Detention Food Services Assessment, they have specific knowledge of the two facilities involved and have already completed schematic design as part of the initial assessment. The cost of the design is $167,215.00. There are many technical and operational issues that Deutsch is familiar with that a different design professional would have to learn. A different design professional would have to start over from the beginning and the effort and expenditures to date would be mostly wasted. (C-70-14-010-M-00)

49. LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH HEALTHCARE TRUST AMERICA, INCORPORATED Approve License Agreement between Maricopa County and HTA – SC Boswell West, LLC for the construction of a bus shelter in Sun City. The cost of the project is approximately $21,000, which will be paid entirely with the County’s share of Local Transportation Assistance Fund (LTAF) II dollars. The effective date of the agreement is upon full execution by both parties, and will expire on the date of final completion of the Bus Shelter or (1) year after the effective date. In order to shield residents from the sun while waiting for the bus, especially in the extreme temperatures of the Arizona summer, there is a need for a bus shelter on the corner of Santa Fe Drive and 105th Drive. This corner, which serves as a bus stop location, is on the property of the Boswell Medical Center, and many people use the bus system as a way to and from their appo intments at the medical center. This agreement is necessary to promote the health and safety of county residents using public transit services at this location. The shelter is needed because there is no source of shade at this bus stop location. To keep patients healthy and protected from the sun, a bus shelter is being erected.
